Hi Everyone! I am new to TheHub and Have been MTBing for a few months

I want to upgrade my hardtail to a FS. Looking at a Trance 27.5 2 version, Trek Remedy 9 or Cannondale Jekyll. Specialised Camber also an option but not too keen on 29er.

So many bikes to choose from these days!

I will be using it mostly for trail riding and the odd race here and there.

I am 1.78M tall.

Can anyone comment on the above choices or have a different brand I should look into?

Much appreciated.

If you are new to the biking thing, then buy a bike that is the most common. Reason, parts are most common, so when you fall and stuff, bits are easy to replace.

I bought a "boutique" brand bike. Pivot bolt broke, and I had to have the part imported, and it took a few weeks and it was waaaaaayyyyy more expensive than it should have been (it cost pounds).

If you know your bike brands - then go with something you like and bits easy to replace. Hope this helps make the choice as clear as mud, like all things cycling.

Thanks for the replys so far. I am currently riding a medium hardtail frame which is a 29er. Had a spin on my wife's Merida Big Seven 300 27.5 and it was a lot more "flicky" in the corners and easier to manage.

Those Giants are very common (not cool) which means parts are easy to come by (cool). Prices are also not too bad. Can't really comment on the other bikes.

Those cycle lab wankers and the rest of their ilk really did a number on people.

This guy isn't asking about frame size yet mentions his height? What now?

Troll somewhere else please. This has nothing to do with the thread. If you don 't have any value to give rather don't post....gee wiz. Go Hate on Cycle Lab in your own thread...

Wow. That's really uncalled for - think it was merely meant as tongue in cheek and comments like those gets your thread bumped at the end of the day, plus some light hearted banter usually results in better suggestions being made.

Don't know how tongue in cheek it is to call somebody a wanker.

There is a reason the Trance is so popular! My 26" is awesome, you won't be disappointed.

On a side note, I always found Merida's to have a racey feel, my old HT was very twitchy at times, enjoyed it though.

He was referring to the cycle lab thread - calling the people there wankers. Which a couple of people in that thread did anyway. Nowhere do I see him referring to the OP in that manner.

Too add some to the list, Dialdbikes also heve some sweet Commencal's and Nukeproof Mega and dont worry about parts, CRC has tons of spares for these bikes, not that you'll need them

That Nukeproof looks awesome. I will read some reviews. Opting for the Trance at the moment. Seems like good value for money...

I have a 26in Trance, had a 26in Ghost DS, but I prefer the handling and more upright position of the Trance.

Even if it makes me a teenager with no idea if I like mountain biking....!
