I still havent heard from the Doctor (to provide details of the removal company) so I have contacted our local muncipality and local papers with the details and pictures. Hopefully something will happen and someone will be prosecuted for this. I will take a ride out there tomorrow if the weather is better and see if everything disappeared over the weekend or of its all still there....

Maybe organise a picket line outside his office with photos... :)

I haven't read through the thread but have any of you considered the possibility that it was not in fact the doctor himself who did it? Giving him the benefit of the doubt. How do you know that he didn't hire one those rubbish removal/garbage disposal guys to come past and pick it up. Come to think of it, has anyone ever considered where these guys dump their loads? :whistling:

It is a possibility...

EDIT: I see this was possibly the case.

Covered in the thread. Mojoman has asked for companies name.

Regardless, if there is still his trash, the doctor is still liable as far as I'm concerned as he has been notified.

It is a possibility, thats why I gave him the benefit of the doubt and waited over the weekend. I emailed him again yesterday and had no reply so I thought it best to let the authorities deal with it. At the end of the day its not my land so I cant lay charges or anything. As soon as this weather eases up and the slush dries up I wil head out there again, prehaps its already been picked up.

After posting I read through the thread which is what I edited my post.

I fully agree with you on this as he hasn't been forthcoming with the relevant information.

Some good news, just spoken to West Rand District Municipality and they are coming through today so I can show them the dump site! I hope an example can be made here so people are less inclined to dump crap everywhere!

The Health Professionals Council has also been in touch with him.

I live pretty close to the township of Olivenhoutbos and across the road from me is a big Eskom overhead transmission line. The land underneath belongs to Eskom and it has, over the years become a informal dump.

Tshwane say its Eskoms responsability to keep it clean and Eskom show little interest - I think they have their hands full with other matters.. So there are no signs, no fences no nothing and its a free for all.

Its used by all and sundry - building, garden refuse and domestic waste. Its within site of my gate and really hacks me off. If I see ***** dumping I drive up and take pics and give them an earful..

If anything it makes me feel better

Mojo, I hope you at least collected the bike that the doc left lying in the dump - looks like a nice one ;)

Seriously though, this type of stuff grinds my ballas.

I saw a lady the other day in a new RAV4 (nice looking white lady BTW, so she cant even use the job creation excuse) wind down her window and dump her cigarette pack and some other unidentified papers on the street.

I was quite disgusted by her behavior, but didn't know what to do - I like the Idea of getting out and throwing it back in the car, think I'll do that next time. :)

Well done Mojoman!

Sometime ago whilst travelling to the Transbaviaans we stopped at one of those stop go things in the Karoo. The occupants of the car in front of us continued to open their window and dumped an assortment of rubbish straight out the window. I picked it up and chucked it back in their car. No prizes for guessing what they did...

On my local trails, out by Irene, there is a place that sells meat in the informal sector. Couple of 100 metres from their operation there is literally a tonne of intestines, carcasses, heads and crap dumped. Smell is horrendous and flies and maggots aplenty. Don't even get me started on the builders' rubble in the area...

Mojoman, where is that? Good on you for following up and not just shaking your head and going on. Tell the good doctor you'll send it to the local paper if he doesn't clean it up. I'm sure there's rules he's breaking right there for dumping old meds.

I don't get why anyone needs to do that? What did the guy you know say?

We have the same issues with dumping in eMalahleni.

I always know whether any shop in the Highveld Mall is getting a revamp as there is suddenly shop fittings dumped in the veld opposite the Mall. Whenever I am able to identify the culprit I send photos to that store's head office ( followed by a phone call) and copy the Mall manager. So far there has immediate response.

Sanral also saw fit to dump a few truck loads of concrete highway slabs in the same area. I contacted them and they did clear it up.

Household refuse normally contains letters, cellphone bills, etc so I send photos via sms and call to follow up. Mostly the "owners" claim no knowledge but so far I have managed to get them to clear up.

It is amazing the amount of confidential stuff I find - credit card statements, medical bills etc.

Just got back from the site and its all still there! Found some medical waste and loads of documents. So lets hold thumbs that a prosecution is on the cards!

Also took the guys out to another dump site and yet another area where there is illegal mining on the go and hopefully they will be able to do something about it.

I feel a bit better now knowing that there has been some interest.

There are a lot of chicken farms in this area and its not unusual to find bags and bags of dead chickens....I always wonder what they died of....and why were they not incinerated?

Traced the owners of this crap as well this morning! Hopefully the owners will be collecting it today!

Going to start packing rubber gloves in my camelbak!

And my (hopefully) final project...had an overturned truck in town on Sunday, whatever was in it made the water in this drain go orange/yellow! They had a hazzardous waste crew come and clean up but now there are all these yellow bags dotted around since Monday! Nice sight for visitors!

A friend/acquaintance of mine was part of the Britmax teams that did patrols in East Germany during the cold war. He said that dumpster diving was a very good source of intelligence as the Russians had a habit of using secret documents as toilet paper when they were not issued with TP. Then the dumpsters outside military bases were almost a square km.

Trash can inspections and analysis is one of the oldest archaeological, intelligence and crime investigation tricks in the book.

Be very wary of what you trash and where you dump it, criminals will be very interested and delighted to get their hands on your rubbish, unless of course you are a radical, then the state will be interested.

If it is a document tear up, shred or burn before disposal.
