Yes 02:15 sounds about right... but we all know they can ride much faster if they want, team tactics is the cause of their speed not up to scratch with european riders, we are not really inferior to them its just we have way less riders so the ones that do get through are the strong ones like Impey etc. Guys like that can ride with the best in the world !! So average speed means absolutely nothing to a pro cyclist.. they are there for a reason like winning or making the break trying to win.  I would go for between 02:15 and 02:20 depending on the "mood".

I recon, remove the times. and put name at corresponding letter.

Or allow the times to be changed if everyone enters their name next to batch letter/symbol

The start times are slightly out...

Elite - 05:30

Tandems - 05:35

VA - 05:40

VB - 05:45

VC - 05:50

Juniors/U16 - 06:05

VE - 06:10

A - 06:20

There are other groups, after VC and perhaps after VE, but I don't know anyone in these groups.

VD - 5:55

Elite Ladies?? - 6:00

I stand to be corrected but I'm about 90% sure that for this race you'll be allowed to race in the licensed groups without having a license.

Know somebody who is licensed and he's seeded in A bunch.

They work according to your seeding index. If you are licensed and you start in the open batches then your seeding didn't make the cut.

This is to eliminate the guys that only license themselves to get an early start and drop off the pace after 5km.

Problem is that I have never asked for it. Now I will have to queue to be reseeded. I can just imagine the looks I get when I request to be seeded down-"but you can just fall back....". "Yes lady, I know that but now I either have to pay to be reseeded or buy a license before I can get my number". Aah - the pleasures of having the occasional First World problem ....

If they give you your pack, you can ride down in the open batches, you can always go ride with the lower batches, you just can't go up.

OMG.. A Bunch ... thats the 4th A Bunch race this year . ( I dont think I'm ready to be the last guy in  A, partial tears)

I'm in "D" Somewhat skrikkerig and considering a few drops!

See you there. Show yourself okay!

I'll be the guy looking like he's about to face the gallows...

What time you gunning for? (see what I did there?  ^_^) I'm hoping to strap a few of the chaps at the front together and work together for a good time.  Worked well at Emperor's this year.

I totally relate ... My F bunch last year was brilliant (lol)

I'd like to know too.  It would also be nice to have transparency on how the rules work.

Its my first 94.7 - Completed Lost City for seeding purposes in 3:41:05.  This got me in K batch at 07h03.  Racetec told me (via email) that seeding preference is given to repeat Cycle Challenge riders.  Any other first timers out there - what's your batch?

My first time. I've been put into B batch.

So I am not in the A,B or even C group, but rode my arse off last year to break the 4hour mark (20 mins faster than the year before) and now I am starting 11 minutes later in a later group than last year.

Really does not sound fair, and now I hear there is 500m more vertical climbing than last year.

I know I'm a 94.7 noob, but wouldn't a good C batch rider be expecting to go under 3hrs? A batch riders maybe 2h45 or even less...?

The problem is to get the pack. Normally one will need a RACING license (which several of us don't have).

For C you must be around 3h methinks.

I am not expecting to be in the first groups at all just a better group than last year, I have gone from JJ to KK while knocking 20 mins of my previous time.

Maybe I am just not seeded, oh well just going to have to ride harder and faster during the hotter part of the day, to maybe get seeded next time.
