What group you in ?

I am in K this year. It seems I always float in the h-k. What is quite interesting is that I rode with IanJ last year, he nursed me back to the finish in 3:17 or something. We both haven't done much racing this year and he's in I. But as I said h-k is where I reside so no point of complaining much since I'll end up riding by myself in any of those.

I'm in D

Hopefully my climbing legs will start pitching up after this weekends Berg & Bush, man those climbs were hectic!

I don't even know what time to aim for this year, you guys are confusing me so badly. Anyway, good luck with the last bit of training everyone!

I also don't get the extra 400 metres, but let me lay it out for you why people won't achieve their dream this year.

Starting the race and hitting Pooks Hill right at the beginning will split the groups already, those who went hard here will then have to content with Summit road which is a rolling road and can take the best out of your legs if you are already at the limit, my guess is that most will be on their limit at this point.

From there you get the R 55 and the old Heartbreak hill will be a mere sprint so early in to the race, then the drop to Kyalami and from here there will be many lonely souls as the riders will be riding an intense pace all the way to the onramp for the N1, this road from the Jukskei to the onramp is at a constant gradient.

By the time the riders hit the N1 they will be so pooped and will start looking at forming little groups all over the place.

From here on it will be a lonely ride for many, then the hills in Steyn City and if they include that final climb up to Riversands from the fly-over, let's just say that many people will be walking towards the finish.

The theory of flying fast downhill and getting up half the hill with momentum ,good luck with that.

Just remember , everyone will be doing the same and after that it's up to the legs, lose the bunch and lose time.

Good luck folks, those who think it's gonna be a walk in the park, I will apologise on the day if this is the case.

Ah the voice of reason!

Hill # 3 on my drawing.

The average gradient of 3.8% is misleading though, because the bottom of that climb looks to be the steepest of the entire race course. Google Earth saying there's a 200m section averaging over 8.5%.

Ja that's the climb up to Dainfern.  Exclude that last 2% drag towards the turn off to Steyns.  The climb proper is 6%+ for just over 1k

Does not seem right, last seeded race i did was the last years 94.7, and your time was better than mine. IanJ in I that is even more odd, he's gonna have plenty of hangers on.

I was not aware that there was still two climbs after the Cedar climb.

Is the no4 hill in Steyn City and the other in Riversands?

The one is Steyn City I was aware of as you can see it from Cedar Road when you are coming back from a cradle ride, the Riversands one was not aware of and both look tough right at the end of the race!!

Ja those last 2 climbs are in the new section that's being built, which 99% of us won't see until race day.

I've had to rely on Google Earth for their elevation profiles.

Ian is gonna ride in a charity group this year so starting at 8:40something I think. Hope he doesn't catch me :P

Seeding at 94.7 has never made sense to me so I guess it's just another year
