  1. Full road closure, no need to keep left and watch out for cars;
  2. It's almost the same width as the R55 at heartbreak hill, but without the uphill that results in 100's of cyclists grinding to sudden halt to get off and push.

It also the same width as Mandi road, which is right at the beginning of the race where the groups will the biggest.

Advise please all ye experienced people... I'm Seeded in A as i said before but my Index is 29. Realistically if I drop back, which bunch would be "Comfy" to drop to?

I dont mind working but i will Die hanging on to the "PRO's"

I have been seeded in E batch with an index of 21. I am going to request a reseeding at number collections, hopefully I can get into the B or C batch.

My strategy is a state secret.

But since everyone here are my buddies I will tell you.

My strategy is to survive and stay as close to Wyatt's wheel as I can.

I'm gonna be a proper "gat vlieg".

All this talk about wheel sucking reminded me know of that guy that mentioned on last years thread that he hit someone for wheel sucking. Do you guys remember that?

Just got my seeding.... Being a mountain biker 99% of the time (mostly by choice), just don't enjoy dodging idiots on the road or entering road races without full closure. The fact that I have done the last four 94.7's dragging an ice cream for CHOC; hasn't helped my seeding cause - RR with a start of 9:54 isn't going to help my goal of a sub 3 / 3:15 (without the ice cream this year...).

In this day and age, can't the results from Sani / B&B / Juma / etc be taken into consideration for seeding?

Pretty pissed, especially since I went out & got a skinny wheeled bike for the effort...

Watch the classifieds... Vent over.

So basically you took the effort to buy a road bike but could not be bothered to read the list of seeding races on the website?

Apply for a Re-seed. They can seed you based on MTB seeding.

Eish..... You are all trying to finish with a sub 3 hour, my goal with a H batch start is to finish as I have not done any training since Tour de`Durban let alone any major rides except the amashova which I did in 3:44(I almost threw my bike off a bridge as we were driving home as I hated it so much), thus i think my goal will be sub 4 hour and just enjoy the early start this year compared to the previous two years which were 9:55am starts and shitty times......

I think next year once my job has calmed down a bit and I can get more saddle time i will become a sub 3 hour hunter for my rides......

Sorry man. How come you only got your seeding now?

Your seeding sounds about right. This is not a small race like D2D where an index of 21 will get you into the A group. The guys in the B group probably have indexes of about 9-11.

They don't do reseeding at number collection. You have to submit a reseeding application email. Here is the form for 2014: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B7XWoHLgHhkrSU9uOFlvU0pqUFFqeHAyMlk4RERrbXVmcF9v/view?usp=sharing

Unfortunately I think you may have missed the boat.

RESEEDS CLOSE ON FRIDAY 17 OCTOBER 2014

Thanks canfan. Will give it a try. If all else fails, I'll take out the single speed and make it a social event.

For those of you who like to ride on the "course" setting on their Garmins, I have a .tcx file of the new route which I built using Garmin connect - it's not 100% accurate, but it's pretty close -I just wasn't sure where exactly the start and finish points are - I tried to load it as an attachment here, but gave up after a while - pm me if you want it emailed.  Incidentally, I have ridden both the new and old route virtually on a Tacx Vortex on consecutive weekends - I rode 2:42 actual last year, and 3:05 on the indoor, and 3:10 on the new route on the indoor.  It's not scientific at all, but I don't think the times are going to be that much slower than last year.
