I am in my lowest start batch ever, I am cool with that.

Get on the bike, get the day started and finish the race ,that is my approach.

That's the spirit,

As i am doing the 947 for a charity i will be following this approach, and no matter what my seeding index is i will be starting with the charity group , hence the sarcasm aimed at all the needless moaning from previous posts.

Have fun guys, why else get on your bike?

Is there a difference?

% nslookup results.pedalpower.org.za
Server: 8.8.8.8
Address:	8.8.8.8#53

Non-authoritative answer:
results.pedalpower.org.za	canonical name = results.racetec.co.za.
Name:	results.racetec.co.za
Address: 197.96.19.17

I don't even know what that means - but from my experience, pedalpower is delayed somewhat.

What that means is that results.racetec.co.za and results.pedalpower.org.za are the same server.

As I understand it, 94.7 do their seeding calculations themselves using data provided by racetec, as apposed to most other races where racetec do the seeding calculations.

So are you riding this year 'Travis'? How long was/is that ban?

You know what fancan, if you look up the word gullible in the dictionary, do you know what you'll find?

Edit: Grammar

Hmm... just drove the route in reverse from Woodmead to Fourways, and will be riding it on Sunday with the club. Not sure what to say, except... eina - Mnandi Drive makes Heartbreak Hill look like a minor bump.

From what I could see, most of the roads inside Riversands look to be complete, and it's only the last few hundred metres before Mnandi Drive that needs to be completed. Two weeks to go and they're still leveling the dump rock, not to mentioned the roadworks on William Nicol between the Leap Frog Shopping centre to the other side of Steyn City.

What happens, race day will be interesting, before, during and after.

Fixed, what I know.

The Carnival City Macsteel National Classic is a ChampionChip timed event but is on the list.

In the past the 94.7 used their own list of events, but I remember reading something on the event website earlier in the year about how they would be using Racetec events.

That's true.

Both the timing company and race convener have had face to face meetings with 94.7 to guarantee a non-Racetec timed event is included.

The fact that after the 94.7 seedings are done, the Carnival City results start showing up in the racetec/ppa seeding index viewer, makes me think that what happens is they load the Carnival City results into the racetec database, and then make the racetec database available to the 94.7 seeders.

I don't know all the details except that my PPA seeding wouldn't have got me an A seeding like a single seeding event has done.

Not sure I'll even find out.

From http://racetec.co.za/faqs/ :

RaceTec is an online entry & race timing company. While currently operating as a business unit of the Cape Town Cycle Tour Trust, RaceTec processes online entries and event timing of cycling and running events around the country.

RaceTec + PPA + Cape Town Cycle Tour Trust  = Big happy family, quietly undermining the CSA

Yip. My vote goes for anything that gives us more transparency. I would love it if all races could do what they do for the Argus, i.e. give you a way to check what results they used for your seeding for that specific event.

Looks to me like I must fit the little BB motor, maybe Turbo it?

I called the race organisers and was informed that I would be able to change at number collection, bearing in mind that each batch does have a limit on riders.

As a side note, when seeded my index was 54 or there about on pedalpower.org.za. This has now come down to 21 after 3 races. Do the event organisers use Racetec for seeding or pedalpower?

Could anyone in A, B or C confirm their respective index as a point of reference?

Thanks

My Index is 25 and I have been getting B groups in the last few races as well as at 94.7. Wasn't expecting it

index last year was 46... rode in C and D , this year its 29... I rode the last 6 races including the "Big Events" in A ... pondering....

getting a bit tedious so just going to make the best of it... sufferfest no matter which bunch you in
