Ok, when is everyone arriving?

4am? 5am? How much time should we give our selves to get from the parking to the start line considering the new venue? Parking chaos, etc....

Once at the venue, 1 hour will do but add an extra hour to get to the venue.

The irony is that it gets so busy because people get there before they need to. if you're riding at 8:00 you don't need to be there at 5:00.It just makes it so much more difficult for the people starting at 6:00 to get to the start in time.

Yes! Am I gonna be out of place if I do that?

I know a few of us do, but most peeps dont know about it.

Hopefully the A bunch are gonna be racing and not sucking wheel as the last few races

From the website I see parking for 18 500 cars accessed by a single road. 30 000 entrants probably translates to number like this.

Easter weekend traffic on the N3 to Durban peaks at about 2 000 cars per hour. Driving at 120kmh.

I am struggling to see how a single road of 3 lanes can process half that number of cars in the 4 hours of the start sequence. No matter how many police and pointsmen are in attendance.

One alternative is to park in Fourways and ride down. Additional 5km from Fourways Mall to start. The ride back up the hill afterwards will be tough particularly with all the cars leaving the venue. This is not particularly attractive.

Parking at Broadacres and jumping on the course in a possibility. But you won't be able to ride back against the route afterwards.

Eish. Any other suggestions?

Get someone to drop you off as close to the start as possible and then pick you up at a point again afterwards.

I live in Hurlingham and rode the 16 km from home to the start for last Sunday's MTB race. From the Virgin Active in Bryanston to the start is all downhill except for on little hill. Easy ride to the start from any of the following:

Virgin Active

Nicolway Centre

Sloane Centre

Fourways Mall

Fourways Value Mart

Leaping Frog Centre

I then rode back to Fourways for lunch. The hill back up is not nearly as steep a climb as you'd expect. There was a whole lane that was closed for construction that was great to ride on. The taxi's weren't a problem as they were using the newly paved pedestrian sidewalk as their private road ...WTF!!!

My start time is 6h32 (D bunch) but I was thinking to be there at about 4-ish. I know its flippen early but rather that than sitting in the traffic and have to park way off.

I will go in check the venue out Saturday morning early to see where will be a good parking spot. Its going to be a long day.

Is it not an option just to camp there from Sat evening and at least get some sleep. I find it difficult to sleep not knowing the venue and possible problems on the day.
