Capricorn Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 (edited) holycow, how long did it take them? but boy, all those 'limitations' aka 'other stuff you must buy'...*facepalm* Racers have been asking for a production downhill specific group with less gears for a long time, and 2014 will be the year that those requests are answered. SRAM's new X01 DH offering combines both existing and brand new components to create a drivetrain that has been designed specifically for the needs of downhillers. Available this coming April, the X01 DH group includes a crankset, modified shifter and derailleur, and an entirely new 10 - 24 tooth spread, 7 speed X-DOME cassette. You'll also need an XD driver body and 11 speed chain because the group uses the same 11 speed spacing as XX1 and X01. Don't want to spring for a complete drivetrain? Nice looking goodies though... apparently, the XD driver is required for the 10t cog. *sigh* all these dependencies make me really sad. The one upside is guess is that you can keep your chainring really small and unsmashable.. well mostly anyway. But that said, what about bashrings and taco's? guess what: you gonna need a new one to more appropiately 'fit' the smaller chainring. Guess i'll be using my grinder on that bashring i have..

Sure looks trick but there is nothing wrong with my 11-28t cassette and Saint derailleur that this will magically fix or make better. I run a 33T on the front and everything seems jolly. Now if only i could last more than 500m...

No need for an expensive freebody & cassette.If you really want you can leave the largest sprocket on to act as a spacer and to make sure the chain never lands up in the spokes. If its a specific Module then NO you dont need it for normal 10spd.I have the new 10spd DH groupset on the Devinci and I just threw it straight onto a standard Hope Pro2 Hub module ... Done. EDIT - IGNORE ME ... I saw 10 and thought you meant 10spd ... not 10 tooth ...For the 10 tooth Cog - that runs on the 11spd XX1 - YES you do need the modified Module!
