Nice slip elte had with the motorbike. how long did that last?

$ group 1st lap time 2:47:11(31st ACT and 22nd sub3 hours)

Last groups 2nd lap time 5:49:32 (result to be confirmed). Rode with my sister who did it for the 1st time - my arm were more sore than my legs by the end! (32nd ACT and 1st over 5 hours!)

Do I have the biggest time difference?

Look at the aerial shots in between you will notice alway too the right of the motor bike! But even if behind the motor bike it's not the cyclist duty to decide where the motor bike should be relative to the bunch thats up to the Commisairs!

was getting all excited to do it twice until I saw they wanted more money  my question is & I know a smart hubber here has the answer, what am I getting on the 2nd lap that I didn't already pay for on the 1st lap?

The event is oversubscribed. They can get the money for a second lap from you, or from someone who missed out on an entry. The Argus bank account does not discriminate against your second lap or someone else's only lap.

To put it differently: you are charged per km, not per minute.

Started D, rode 3:03. Started again from the back of OE, & had a chilled ride for 3:58. Wind was definitely worse second time round. My hats off to the back markers - they work for that medal - no groups to hide in and no co-operative effort. Most of the guys doing 2nd round were chilled and well-behaved but there were the few inevitable twats.

Started in VB had a great first lap @ 2 53. The second lap I did in 4:06 but got really hungry. There was no food at the waterpoints except for some tennis biscuits at the pick and pay station. It was a great experience though and I'll do it again....

its a rip off to double charge. The road is already closed it's not like they are keeping it open especially just for the guys doing their 2nd lap, in fact most guys doing their 2nd lap Came in well before most guys still battling with their 1st lap, oh & did they cater extra for you doing your 2nd lap? No they didn't. 1st lap you don't even look at the food or water/cokes/powerades or whatever else they Handing out these days.

Not sure why you are so angry about it, if you feel its a ripoff don't do it, nobody is forcing you to do a second lap.

You might not have stopped at the waterpoints the first time round but you had the option to if you wanted, your fee is not linked to how many times you stop at waterpoints. Like GLuvsMTB explained, you pay per km not per minute.

The way I saw it doing a second round was a privilege, of course it would be nice if it was free but I would rather pay for it than not being allowed to do it or sneak around illegally.

its a shame not allot of other races offer this option

wonder if they will legalize it in the 94.7?

Doing the tour de durban in april, would have loved to do that one twice as well.

its a rip off

My absolute favorite phrase in the South African cycling lexicon. (just ahead of 'hold your line')

We ride 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 100-plus-thousand rand bikes, and then bitch about being charged very little, in the grand scheme of things, for something quite special. Nobody is forcing you to ride a second lap, it is a privilege. And it costs the organizers money to have you ride a second lap, no matter how much you try to convince yourself it doesn't. Extra staff/man-hours to handle more complicated entries, extra staff at the gate to OE (in my experience) to collect two-lappers' cards and apply fetching pink stickers, extra man-hours to manually strip out our results and remove the second lap so we get an accurate first one - lord knows how ape we would have gone if they got that wrong!

Don't wanna pay? Then don't play.

Simplest thing ever.

Already "legal" at 94.7. Ride 1st lap, remove chip and off you go. Provided you're back before last batch leaves.
