I wasn't timed since we rode for fun but I can tell you that the course is challenging on a hardtail. I was quite interested to see how my mate and I and hardtails with Leftys faired against the guys on bikes made for that type of riding. I still can't believe how fun it was

Thanks to Johan and all the Hubbers that build and organised and ran the event!

For an 1st event I think it ran pretty smooth, I do have a few suggestions and questions:

1. Are all the landowners on whose land we rode still ok? No complaints or anything? This is an really awesome venue/area, and to keep it going for many years, we must make sure we dont piss the landowners off!?

2. For above mentioned point I would suggest to limit the nr of riders to about 100 and limit the nr of events as well during a year?

3. For a next event i would suggest having practice and registration on the Sat and the race on the Sunday. Especially where you have some proper features that could be dangerous when ridden blind, I feel its best to allow some practice.

4. I also feel its really important to have a race brief before the start just to confirm some basic rules about the privelage of riding on some one elses property, no littering, allowing rider to pass you (ja I know Andre...) etc. Explaining about B-lines etc.

5. And then obvioulsy it would be nice to get the timing right as well..

Thanks again to all that made this possible.

HUh? You have to be told not to litter?

Unless the average #enduro rider is different to the rest of the cycling population a gentle reminder can do no harm

I think the average #enduro rider is a LOT different to the rest of the cycling population.  We have backpacks to shove our rubbish into.  And who has time to litter on the way down?

OK I feel suitably chastised   carry on as you were ......

It should have nothing to do with 'what type of rider you are', it is a life principal. Yes, loads of people fail at it, but really, we are not 3years old and the race organisers aint our parents to tell us to also wipe out bum after being to the loo.

Thanks Christie

1. I think Johan would answer better. The only issues I heard about had to do with vehicles on the dust road which shouldn't have been there. One bakkie doing handbrake turns on Friday evening. Heard that one lighty got shuttled up to stage 2 by his parents... So next time vehicle access will be controlled better.

2. So we hit target on first go. :D

This depends on the relationships and negotiations with land owners.

3. We actually wanted to have the race on the Sunday but there was a conflict. Future events will be on Sundays to allow a practise day on Saturday.

4. Agreed. It was part of the plan that fell over unfortunately.

5. If we could do it all again, we would do clipboard manual timing only. I hear there is work in progress to develop a foolproof system which doesn't cost the earth to hire.

Could we have Categories in future. I checked with Nigel and it looks like they running Categories pretty much like the Nationals in KZN.

E.G.

Sprog

Sub Junior

Youth

Junior

Elite

30yr -39yr (Sub-Vet)

40yr - 49yr (Vet)

50+ (Master)

Otherwise I must say Big up you all who made it happened. I think the entries speak for them selves its some thing Jozi has needs for some time. Who wants to ride boring flat roads.

For interest sake, what is your reason for wanting this? So each catagory can get a podium oppertunity?

Age categories depend on numbers too Sean ....

If there are less than 5 riders then you cant have a class - so that class is amalgamted into the next available class ...

Eg

Sprog becomes Sub Junior

Sub Junior becomes Youth etc

Vet becomes Sub Vet

Master becomes Vet

So its up to the discretion of the organiser

Oh and then

Junior Ladies

Elite Ladies

Master Ladies
