Do yourself a favour and read the rules before commenting...

I forgot this is the hub where you get slated for asking a question or making a post. Was an honest question based on coverage of the incident as I remember it from years back to what happened now. But anyhow, some other normal hubbers have posted reasonable answers.

Have not read the entire thread... but been following for the last few days...

You guys are sooo up in all the rules... there is intent and then there is what transpired.

IN the TDF Lance did some bush whacking after trying to avoid an accident... this action cut out 50 meters or so - I think - he was not penalised. I know they are 2 different races... I just want to point out the fact that its arbitary... did KE ride away from those guys or did they stay together after the incident? either way... he took a path that was unchartered... and possibly waaaaay more dangerous than the "track"... forget about the penalty risk... think about hitting a rock or a hole...

The fact that their team have made some PR blunders have clouded some peoples objectivity...

but hey.. its all good

What he did is the same aa jumping a red traffic light on your bicycle.

There are clearly two school's of thought on that topic and all the past threads on that topic seems to hold a similar vein to this one.........You choose to do something or you don't.

I supported KE even after two team mates have been caught cheating. He came out claiming 5M, but the video footage shows it to be 50, claimed he passed 5 or 6 riders, when it was around 12. He cheated to get an advantage, he was behind riders in the same race as him, not behind lapped back markers. He then shifts the blame to Scott, yet if they had not objected, there were 3 or 4 other teams ready to object.

This is all void, where was His partner? if he was still in traffic, the move has no advantage unless his partner ALSO jumped position!

Hates everyone suddenly forgotten the 2 minute rules his partner would have had to make it through, what was mostly outcast, traffic! It's a grudge protest LOUD and clear.

Partner was in front. The outcasts were good enough to get to the singletrack before him. What is the question again?

Lets face it, a very dumb decision made probably due to pent up frustration on the track. Definitely it was wrong but he only thought about it for a few seconds before acting. Scott however had hours to think about their decision to protest and could have handled things a lot better, with a few choice words of their own and left it at that. Disappointing that they spoiled the african jersey as a competition with that penalty.

And it is interesting how they suddenly decided to start outcasts in the 2nd batch from then on...?

This lady should rather keep her mouth shut, always has so much to say. They won the jersey outright and Fedgroup never and if Waylon never pulled out due to illness, they would of won it.

The team has such a dark cloud on them for so many reasons. When they finished no one was there other than Bridgette to see them. No fans congratulated them or anything. They stood around looking honestly lost. It was actually rather sad but at the same time a telling sign of what people thought. Once Scott, Cannondale, ToPeak etc came through the finish area people were shouting and screaming.

That summed it all up for me.

Ouch! Really?... That proves some merit in Kevin's frustration.

I guess the organisers have a fine line to tread,: make it race friendly with loads of place to pass ; and put in loads of singletrack so that it is super-fun...,

The latter is obviously not conducive to overtaking... The former is just not fun!

I did see the video... Copied from phone... Could not add as a link.

What the footage does not show is how long he was stuck behind the group

..

What it does show is the 20m he gained... And how slow they were riding.

Anyway... What's done is done.. Kudos to the guys who completed the race... When you get home don't forget to re-introduce yourself to your family and friends :-P
