this is a lekker story. well done CL megastore.

I concur with the SW store complaint, I hate going there. The fact that it is a franchise and thus under seperate ownership and management might play a role in the attitudes of the shop staff.

The mega store service is good. Staff are friendly and willing.

Cant say they same for the Cape Town and Westlake stores.

That's the problem with the franchise model. One doosh bag can send a customer in another direction.

Wow, I had a different experience, dropped bike off at cycle lab in morning as had no where to store it at the client I was at for a wash, lube and set the gears.

I got the bike back and the gears were not slightly off, it could not even change into the big blade at front. After 15min in car park trying to fix it, I took it home and fixed it.

Like the new Fourways Megastore a lot and also found their prices are good on most bits and bikes. They helped me out in the last couple of months (with parts I could not find anywhere else).

Took a friend there today (he is new to cycling) just to show the range of bikes and explain the difference in cheaper vs more expensive bikes, and he walked out with a new bike (luckily I don't have to explain to his wife). The sales person did give him a good deal.

Like i said, i've only received good service...but this was an email from them to my brother regarding a full bike service and bleeding brakes

Good day Sir

A full bicycle service will be approximately R950.00 – If you would like to have the forks serviced you can add another R340.00 for labour as well as R399.99 for the service kit. Bleeding of the brakes are costed at R80.00.

Isn't the mega store a hangout for guys with Landrover sports and cash burning a hole in the pocket?

Popped in yesterday to pick up numbers for emperors this weekend, nice layout with bikes displayed by brand and cost and a separate stands for women's bikes and clothing. Something i noticed is that the descriptions components displayed on some of the bikes i.e. Bianchi and whats actually on the bikes is different, (SRAM advertised, Shimano on the bike). Price wise comparative or cheaper than elsewhere, ended up buying a winter riding jacket and gloves.

They also had a Ferrari bike  with Sora components :whistling:

Hi All

Thanks so much for the kind words. We really have been putting in a lot of effort to ensure that we offer great service to everyone. Glad to hear that the hard work is paying off, and thank you all for supporting us.

Must add that I was impressed by the Store in Fourways when I went to pick up a race number.

No less than FOUR guys asked if they could assist me in a period of about 20mins.

Guy in workshop gave me two free valves when I asked for assistance with a faulty tyre.

Good effort, guys.

The mechanics and the Retul/bike fitment guys are always friendly and willing to help. Have had only good service from the Super Cycling club ladies at the door and guys on the shop floor. Its also seldom that Andrew McLean is not at the door or restaurant keeping an eye on business. Bar maybe when hes out on the Cape Epic winning the Masters i.e.

Can you elaborate on the service request? The Gold service which he is being quoted for is a full strip down service of the bike and rebuild. Not just an external service, all linkages checked bearings etc etc. I can post a full breakdown if you are interested. We believed that costing this at R950 was market related especially as we have invested heavily in providing a high quality workshop experience.

Also we believe our shock servicing prices to be reasonable however as always we are open to feedback.
