Anyone had experience of GT Road bikes here? Specifically the GTR Carbon Ultra?

Not in the usual stable of bikes I'd consider but this one could be a good deal but it's all about the frame for me and this could be a generic shape. Not that that's a bad thing but it's lacking a lot in the review stakes out there in the inter web land.

it's this one..

I met a guy with the GT carbon pro(the one below the one stated in this thread) a few months back. He had nothing bad to say about it, however I dont know how in depth his knowledge of frames etc go. I saw a medium frame one on the Obike.co.za website with ultegra Di2 groupset for around R26k.

I rode a GT road bike regularly for 2 years, but it was aluminium. Great bike, albeit a bit heavy, I still have it and use it for training from time to time. I can only assume that carbon will be even better that the alu.

Biggest "problem" with GT roadbikes is that they have no bling factor, which puts a lot of people off. I must admit, I much prefer riding my Cannondale...

I can only comment on my own bike and my experiences moving to an all carbon frame.

My frame has an integrated seat post and the year model I'm not a 100% sure of.

But the first thing I noticed is that the frame is relatively stiff (and I feel it through the bum) and very light. I have good feedback through the bars and I corner on it confidently.

I have not had lots of time on it in the rain, so I cannot comment on that.

I got it for a good deal on the Hub and am very happy with it.

That was the one I was looking at. It was actually advertised on the Hub classifieds for R21,996 which was a further saving on the Obike site and I know CWC were offering an extra % discount if you got it delivered to them....

Funnily enough the ad' disappeared same day as I started this thread, so Im guessing they stuffed up the advert and put the lower spec bike price in. Shame, I would have picked it up at that price.

I saw that ad too, clicked the link and saw it was a medium. Maybe the cannondale I want is destined to be mine haha

Hi there,

Apologies, this was a slip up on our part in loading the ad for Obike. The incorrect title was given on this ad. The price and image were correct, but not the DI2 spec or orange paint scheme.
