Does anyone know if that dangerous rocky descend in still in it , the one just before the floating bridge from last year ?

A lot of my mates got put off the whole event because of that rock section and wont be coming back this year .

 

First half looks much the same as last year, that is a climb up to the ridge westwards in that game farm, down to the road again then back up to the crest of the ridge again overlooking the satellite station, remains to be seen if we go down and around to the stream and across a floating bridge, or that very steep rocky descent, either way there is a technical descent before that. Preferred it when we could traverse the ridge entirely, but maybe land access issues prevents that now.

 

That descent you mention is just a warm up for the other one I am referring to which featured in previous editions.

that's what I am talking about bru - Squier was one of the few that rode that,and I am sure a few others.

 

Where I came short (literally) was after changingg my mind / chickening out, to try and stop and dismount means moving ur weight fwd and a launch over the handlebars follows. Dropper seat post should help solve that problem, but one does need commitment, and more importantly, skills.

So did a recce yesterday of some of the route...obviously not the parts that is closed except for the race. VG is looking good, the river is fast as in concrete fast. It's an absolute gas at the moment.

- Ultra - Men - Elite : 25

- Ultra - Amateur : 71

- Marathon - Ladies - Elite : 20

- Marathon - Amateur : 458 ... so I won't be lonely out there

In for the half, but considering upgrading to marathon. Can anyone confirm the total ascent on the maraton; i have it as +-1,400m.
