Ja this forced signs of entry/grey area is not cool, I pretty much either keep my bike in sight or chain it up/lock it in the garage even if I only run inside because I can't afford to get shafted by the insurance co.

But I thought all risks was just that, if you get robbed or have an accident then they pay out no matter the location. Needing signs of forced entry to pay out is really a tall ask, that severely limits the cover. Its not really much cover at all, all risk insurance is supposed to be blanket risk cover, it should definitely cover you completely when at home?

Have a crack with Alex Forbes, have never had an issue.they are far from cheap but they never have any issues paying out.

Thanks ryan will give them a call tomorrow to obtain a copy of their policy.

Skylark you might want to check if your lock is fitting their specifications for locks.

Heavy. Sorry for this VERY unfortunate situation. I clearly have some reading to do. Anybody with Santam here?

I was until they asked me to leave. Claimed 3 times last year, 2x bumper 1x windscreen of which none was my fault. Now I'm listed as a high risk client and my insurance costs almost double...

My car is insured with Alexander Forbes using BMW Financial Services platform. Last year during W2W whilst a charity group were transferring my car, somebody in a bakkie lost control of his vehicle in the mud at Oak Valley and smashed the front of my car. A successful (but contentious!!) claim later, R 42,000 was required to repair the damage. Four months later, I get a letter from BMW Finanacial Services (i.e. Alexander Forbes) that my premium has increased from R 1,268 to R 2,313 per month - a R 1,000 or 83% increase!!!!!! Needless to say I'm taking this on on various fronts, but I'm not holding my breath. And I suspect they're all the same.

I wrote down the spec of my lock and emailed them to confirm it meets their spec, which they did. But reading your first post, it certainly does seem that it's not "All Risk" cover. Think I'm going to re-read my policy document again and maybe re-consider insuring with Cycle Sure or ask them to quote me a premium which covers "All Risks", assuming they'll do that?

SWAAAAAAK! I have a mate who's oldie has been a broker for like a million years. He also used to be a partner or had something to do with Springbok cycles. I'm sure he will be able to give good advice on this Bike insurance subject.

Flymango i have the "all risk" cover. The only special condition i have taken was the one bike out of the house at any given time. (I can only ride one bike at a time)

And for this i paid a fortuin.

Which now all went down the drain.

Pretty much sounds to me like there was only 1 bike out the house under "all risks"

Do they have any social media presence? If so, put the details here and we can bombard them with negative feedback. Any insurance company that positions themselves as a choice for riders then worms the way out of the claim doesn't deserve the support of cyclists.
