Ag nee, nothing worse than that split second when you have to decide to catch a falling bike or not(nevermind even a heavy one) and you decide to do it, take it on the chin and naturally it moers you properly.

What can you really do, let it drop, all that love and attention scratched/dented to hell, ai worst one.

Hope you heal up soon bru.

Jip, saw some of this yesterday.

I watched the reviews on the electric one a few weeks ago, Jay Leno does a good one, and I must say I think it looks awesome.

Probably going to have a nasty price tag though

This thing, aye it hurt me. Took it out the garage which has a bit of a ramp, forgot to put it in gear..........

Yeah........

it rolled off the side stand.(Stupid me) Caught between it and my bakkie, I stopped it hitting the ground, but buggar it stuffed up my hand as the bars swung over and bent my fingers amd wrist back. 3 weeks ago now, still sore........at least the old machine is not damaged!

Yes, I squealed until the Missus came to the rescue!

True biker. Damage the body before the bike.

Any good Cheap GPS Devices out there for Adventure Riding. Don't really want to spend R7000+ for a Garmin. I Guess my normal Car GPS wont work.

I use my phone. Either Google maps if I am not planning on going too far off the beaten track or OsmAnd for gpx tracks out on the goat paths. Google Earth or Base camp to plot the waypoints and then export as a gpx file. I cobbled a mount together with a few GoPro mounts and a phone cover. Will take some pics and post later.

Will give it a go. Thanks Grebel.

GoPro flat mount attached to the back of a China Mall phone case

I had it mounted to my everyday Spigen case but it kept hooking on everything when you tried to get it out your pockets and my patience eventually wore thin so I bought the other case.

It does wobble a bit when you are riding but you can still see the screen. I also installed the voltmeter/USB charge port below it so now the phone can be charged off the bike while riding (I used to use a powerbank inside my handlebar bag which worked but this way is better).

Edit: With the mounts it is adjustable as well so depending on the sun etc you can compensate for glare. As you can see a cap screw was used so there is some assembly and DIY required ;)

I bought a cellphone mount but honestly, for road riding, I am too scared to use it.

In our country it would be too much of a temptation for some nefarious persons to liberate you of said phone.

Obviously in the bush is a different story........

In town, it lives in my pocket. The Sena takes care of the comms and tunes. For navigation, I get voice prompts and if I miss the turn, Google recalculates for me

Apparently the Image stabilisation and auto focus mechanism's on some phone's cameras can also be damaged by all the shaking when mounted on a motorbike. Probably best to have a mount that has some amount of vibration damping built in to the design.

Since I'm also a MTB'er, My Garmin Edge will prob work just as good. But only when I want to do some riding on a new route off the beaten track, or when I got a gpx file to upload for off road riding.

Is that a 640 Grebel? I ask as my one shakes anything mounted on the plastic shroud to switch off. It is either handle bar or onto the shroud mounting bolts.

It is indeed. I think that there is a fair amount of "damping" through the mount itself as it isn't 100% rigid. There is a little bit of flex in the plastic GoPro arms and there is 3M tape attaching the mount to the shroud as well as to the phone case.

I think ultimately I would probably look at making up a road book holder to mount the phone. Something like this one
