Read in the MCN last week that BMW have sold more than 20 000 R18s in various forms. Don’t see too many here but saw a bobber on Sunday. Sweet looking bike.

Sales guy said he sold 4 the last month ..... must be the kind of bike that gets bought for "breakfast rides" or the like, and then ends up being a garage queen for a few years till the person's wife makes him sell it again with 3000km on the clock .... those are the ones I will be looking out for.

Oh, did I say "Rock" mode rocks.

You would think that they could of squeezed a bit more HP and torque from that motor? Hairy, if the BMWobble U impressed you, try a Rocket. Yes I know, I am biased.

Took my little red bike to Somerset West for a service, decided to ride it there, a 450 km exercise in managing discomfort ha ha. Was indeed a challenge, so much easier on my big KTM. However, I am happy I did it. The N2 is not as smooth as it seems in a saloon car! Pic just outside Caledon.IMG_0456.jpeg.17b1d305e62c788008b77cb15d7f0e1d.jpeg

I picked this up from Tracmac yesterday when changing out the cut front tyre .... sure hope it will keep me dry in the rain. Given some of the neater details on the jacket I am sure it will work well.

Looked at the matching pants, but I am not certain how well this will wear against a hot exhaust pipe, even if the pipe has a heatshield ... so holding back on that for now.

EDIT: The fit over the leather jacket is also good, and in no way feels like it inhibits ones movement.

This looks good. I need to find suitable waterproof gloves. I do not mind riding in the rain but I do not like cold hands. The heated grips of the Katoom are super but my gloves….mmmmmm

That was their "Custom build" at 290K

EDIT: And that is the second hand price I think ... one year old, and if I recall 3000km

Considering the price of the bike standard this seems a good price.

I am looking at a 748 in Cape Town to complement the 1098. Undecided though. Another Katoom RC8 is available!

Think the 748 more iconic and much sexier. It’s also a better bike for this small island.

and they go for way less.

I think you would do well on a Super Duke; wallet and licence not so much.  Check medical aid and income protection too.

My knees are buggered - shorten Huskies or buy something else?

PE had the DGR today as last week's was postponed due to weather

There was a good turnout in Durban last week and it looked fun and well organised. I was riding a push bike on the beachfront unfortunately and sorry I missed it as it looked like fun despite my aversion to such events (fear of someone bumping you).
