Can someone please be kind enough to explain to me why our athletes always seem to start so badly?

Not enough gym (power) training and start training (skills), sometimes is not just about climbing on a bike and riding. Our guys do not race enough overseas and our lads and lasses all know each others strenghts and weaknesses (typical of small racing pool), it is easy to become complacent, then when we do race at international level the experience is WOW the other cyclists are FAST.

If our ladies are not able to race the guys or at least give them (the men) a hard time, then our ladies are not strong enough for world level. At least on track it is true and I suspect in the other disciplines it is true too.
