I am trying to make my mind up now between these two.

Scott Spark 920

Or

Giant Anthem Advanced 29er

Last week my list was Scott spark 940, cannondale scalpal 3 and the scott Psark 920.

I narrowed it down to the Spark 920. Then I made the mistake of looking at the Giant Anthem.

My final decision will be from these two.

There is also this which is about R10 000.00 cheaper than the first two.

I always seem to hear good things about the Giant Anthems.

I'd take the Anthem - it has a better suspension design. Depending on personal preference I'd swap the fork for a Reba.

The Scott isn't a bad bike (there are many happy Spark owners), but I've heard about issues like cracked chain-stays and issues with it's rear shock.

Weight The most accurate way to determine any bike’s weight is to have your local dealer weigh it for you. Many brands strive to list the lowest possible weight, but in reality weight can vary based on size, finish, hardware and accessories. All Giant bikes are designed for best-in-class weight and ride quality.

Love my Anthem...

Can't say it's better than the Scott cause I haven't been on a Scott - just sharing my thoughts on the Giant.

Anthem transformed my riding drastically in a very short period.

It's not always about the bike, but sometimes it is about the bike...

Looking at specs it's a difficult choice. My advice: go with your heart dude. Last thing you want to do is go for one and regret it every time you see the other.

The owner at the bike shop I'm looking at said the following. Now he will sell me either so he is not biased from a selling perspective.

The Giant is like the Toyota Hilux of the MTB world.

The reason I'm looking at the Giant is that I always hear how people rave about them.

I'm not built like a feather duster and from this point of view the owner at the bike shop said the Giant would be a better fit for me.

I had the same choice about 6 months ago... Went with the Giant Anthem Advanced 29er.

Will make the same choice if I had to.

really tough choice. I have a 920 and it's been great. W2W, Sani and much more abuse and it keeps on rocking. Only thing I changed on the stock bike is the wheels (went tubeless with Crossmax ST) and changed to my preference of seat and bar.

Good luck!
