Take one suggestion of mine. 'The War Zone' - nothing to do with war, a story about a family with real issues. Most harrowing movie I have ever seen, easily one of the best ever. It will stick with you for ages but it is unmissable. Edited by Thor Buttox

Cautiously excited. One of my fav directors but he did direct a few stinkers the last couple of years. Will wait for the reviews..

Denis Villeneuve, you mean? Which stinkers? I think Ridley is just producing

Oh ok, I was mistaken then - thought he is directing again

Don't really know Denis Villeneuve - I hope he can pull this off!

The fact that I was the only one that voted for Akira Kurosawa is a little sad.

If you are a movie buff, you will have watched at least one of his films.

Here is great clip explaining his brilliance as a Film Director and Editor.

If you are a Clint Eastwood fan you would be interested to know that "A Fist Full of Dollars" was based on Kurosawa's "Yojimbo"

Watched Thank You for Smoking (2005) again last night. Still one of the better movies ever made, imo. 8/10.

Then watched The Protector (2005) again, just to see Tony Jaa fly through the air and knee bad guys in the face. I never get tired of watching that. 7/10.

The original Ong Bak was cool. It was the first Tony Jaa movie I watched and then I watched some of his titles from the 90's as a result. Mostly drenched in cheese and terrible acting but man the stunts and fight scenes are cool. The movies just weren't the same after he went Hollywood though. I suppose Ong Bak was probably a blockbuster too but it wasn't Hollywood.

Haven't heard much of him lately though.

I use to watch an anime called Samurai 7 back in the day. Its based on the Kurosawa's Seven Samurai. So subsequently watched the movie as a result. I never did get into any of his other stuff.

Yeah, think I might watch Ong Bak again as well, sometime this week. I've seen him here and there, mostly in Hollywood stuff like Furious Seven and XXX: Return of Xander Cage. Seems like he and Vin Diesel took a liking to each other. ;)

I see on IMDB they're making an Ip Man: Side Story movie, in which he has a role.

Have you seen the previous Ip Man movie? I think his son was in it.

Yes, I'm a big fan of Donnie Yen, so I've seen all three Ip Man movies. Loved the first one, can't really remember what happened in the second one and thought the third one was so-so.

You should also check out The Grandmaster, if you haven't seen it yet. Quite beautifully shot and won a ton of awards. Stars Tony Leung as Ip Man.
