Yeah I avoid their movies for that reason ..

Then I also can't stand toilet humour it also puts me off many other movies of actors because of their past movies.

Then you better avoid anything with Tony Shalhoub, Julianne Moore, Halle Berry or Richard Gere. Coz they're in this too.

Did you watch Uncut Gems? Soo good.

Wow. I battled my way through that and am not sure if I am glad that I did.

Felt like very hard work for not much reward.

Cloud Atlas was straaaaaange.

Yep - usually a movie's IMDB rating is a good rough guide for me. This one had a great rating above 8 at some point - must have been old Matrix fans blindly hyping the movie because I thought it was bollocks

Cool idea for a thread

21 Movies I'm Embarrassed to Admit I Love

https://io9.gizmodo.com/21-movies-im-embarrassed-to-admit-i-love-1793044203

Some of them I agree with (Independence Day), some of them (Cloud Atlas/Cars 2 hell no it just sucked)

I can think of several garbage movies I love.

The Pest

Big trouble in little China

A night at the Roxbury

Freddy got fingered

Romeo + Juliet (The 90's one with Leo)

The Fifth Element

The Underworld movies

Then there are critically acclaimed movies I just don't get.

The Godfather.

Ok calm down. Its good. But people acting like it set the bar for mafia films probably haven't seen Mean Streets. Lets be honest here. Scorsese just does it better. Goodfellas, Casino, The Departed. Do I really need to go on?

Gone with the Wind.

I honestly don't see the appeal here.

If you're in the mood for some old fleeting romance.

Watch Casablanca instead.

Citizen Kane. I don't even know where to start with Citizen Kane.

I just don't get it. And nothing about it makes me want to. Ever.

Then there are others off the top of my head I will probably never get either.

Psycho (Hitchcock)...not scary

The Harry Potter movies...rubbish

Forest Gump...just shut up

IMO no.

I did enjoy the second Sicario, but it did not have the depth of the first one. I enjoyed the action, it was solid enough, but it could have been so much more.

Loved Romeo+Juliet & Fifth Element - not so sure I would want to watch it again though...

I'm not that good at appreciating the old movies from the 50's and earlier so I would rather not comment on them..

One highly rated movie I would add to your bottom list is Apocalypse Now - I just don't get it, other than the "Ride of the Valkyrie" scene it's just a long boring mess imo.
