Has anyone been to Avianto since the re-launch of the trails? Any good? Distance and difficulty? Have some new riders in the group, will they be able to ride the trails?

Rode there last week Sunday. Absolutley loved it, nice fast single track and some good technical climbs. From what I could work out, if you are wanting to get in a 32km ride, you basically do a second lap? Depending on your riding abaility, and if you are a confident rider, with a decent level of bike control, I highly reccommend you do the black trail as well. It offers some nice technical climbs (I am not a fan of this, but I put up with it cause I know that what goes up, well, must come down  ) but the downhill sections really made it for me, lots of rock garden sections, drop-offs, and some tricky switchbacks (I loved it so much, I bought a tiny piece of real estate while I was there :whistling: ).

Having said the above, there are alternative shorter routes which will cater for the perhaps less skilled rider.

Head on out, you wont regret it......

Thanks. Sounds like fun and seems like the newer riders can stick to one route and the rest of us can go have some technical fun

Will try it out on Sat

Went there on Friday afternoon last week and there was no-one to be seen before the ride, so I'm afraid to say I rode as a rogue rider. Went back after my ride to buy a beer and pay, and there was still no-one to be found. Is there anywhere I can go to pay for last week, and also to buy a month pass, or are the trails closed in the week?

Go to the main reception of Avianto

If you go across the little wooden bridge to the wedding venue side, you can pay at the reception, then at least you will not be fired upon by the residents if they catch you rogue riding....ok, i'm kidding about the shooting part.

The "bar area" is only manned on weekends.

In Muldersdrift on the R114, just off the N14, between Riverstone Lodge and Kloofzicht Lodge on the edge of the Cradle

Thanks Geomark and Pusher, I will definitely go there next Saturday. Is that the only trail in that area?

No, Heia Safari is close by as well as Owl River on the Lanseria road.

If you would like to know of some routes in the area, contact myself or Dorpie here on the Hub

Thanks Dalem44. You can give me the directions to those trails any time. I just finished the Avianto with my kids, and I think they enjoyed it more than I do. My youngest is 6 and we did the White trail and after that me and my eldest (he is 12) did the green trail.. It really was a perfect way to spend a Saturday. Can you maybe also give me directions how to get to the trails at the Cradle?

Hi. Don't know if you ever found the cradle trails. But they currently run parallel to the Cradle road cycling route, starting at the circle by Kloofzicht Lodge, towards the Lion Park, but don't yet complete the full cradle route loop.
