Surely it's GT? Omnico is just the middle man...

GT will tell you to deal with Ominco.....not them directly

I was not happy a good couple of years ago with a resolution when my Scott frame broke ... again .... I contacted Scott head office directly and eventually they solved the problem in a manner that left me as a very happy client.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Get hold of GT OP.

I doubt that it will get sorted so I am starting to make peace with the fact that this will have to be one very expensive lesson for me.

Obviously I have informed Omnico about how I feel and what I plan to do (spread the word). They are playing dumb saying they have not made up their minds and will do so once they see the complete bike - which they know is impossible since I built up a new bike using parts from the cracked frame.

This just cracks me up! A mate of mine had 2 GT mtb frames replaced due to cracks. Another is on his 2nd GT road bike frame. Also cracked.

Wow, that was quick!

Just got a call from them - they will replace the frame with no quibbles. Seems it was just a bit of admin that they needed to sort out with the international suppliers but they will handle it for me. Sending a new frame to the LBS as soon as they can.

Thank you Omnico  I really did not expect it and I am very happy ^_^

Actually no, they responded to the email I wrote where I informed them that I am going public with it because I felt I have no other option.

So from their side I have to say they are very reasonable and nice to deal with. They are aware of this thread and I have told them it ends well and I am very happy for the way it the situation is getting handled. If they feel anything needs to be removed or is unfair towards them I will gladly rectify it .

 Thumbs up to Omnico

Seems like this is a trend in SA as I struggled for months with the SA distributors regarding a cracked rear triangle and eventually contacted Yeti International direct and what took months with no answers got solved and replaced within 5 working days from the States! And I got to keep faith in the brand I love.

Its a same we have to struggle like this in SA.

My brother had a problem with his GT Zaskar frame and had it replaced within a week. I suppose circumstances also dictate the outcome and management of the problems some times.

so they only responded when you threatened to go public? doesn't sound like good service to me.

The LBS dealt with them for the last month or so and yesterday informed me that it seems the situation is in a deadlock.

That was when I created this thread and at the same time contact them directly to inform them of what it is I am doing as well as why I am doing it.

Thankfully they responded very positively and it was simply because they wanted to resolve the matter and make sure I was a happy customer. They only checked this thread later so I do not think it is fair to say they had to be threatened or anything of the kind.

I think they were just unaware of my situation and how I felt about it. I wish more companies would be as open and understanding as that :D
