Go like hell out of the blocks so you look good then take it easy. Make up a great excuse at the end of the day like "that old injury from the last race blah blah blah." I will say Hi. Was next to you at the start of Slanghoek.

We will be on single speeds so I am sure we will be waaay behind you. I will be the guy with blood coming out of my eyes at the end of each day!

Good luck to all. If you haven't done it you are in for the best 3 days of riding. For those who have I hope it goes well.

RESPECT!!!

Geez well done, i've sent through a couple of race results which never formed part SASEEDING so lets see what comes of it.

Days 1 and 2 are the most challenging. Day 3 (for me) is more of a dash to the finish. However there are some cautionary bits nearing the end. Each day has its own technical portion. Walking up the pass on day 1 is tough and hard. Then there is lots of single track to Oak Valley. Day 2 is just sublime. Great riding with enough technical to keep you on your toes.

That is my feeling anyway.

When you say walking up the pass, is that a compulsory portage?

Of the 3 days, which has the most technical riding?

I was a bit caught out by the technical stuff of Day 2, was more technical than what we usually get at stage races and funrides. I have heard the Day 2 route will be a bit easier this year though.

flip, I'm getting so excited for the W2W now!

At last the training seems to be working, legs are in pretty decent shape and lungs seem to be doing their thing too.

Would a 650b hardtail be fine?

Very much so. But then again, I believe that most terrain is rideable on hardtail of any wheel size.

That is correct yes. However you could not ride it. If it is hot it is crazy hard. If it is wet it is slippery. Take caution there. It is clearly sign posted for the portage section. Drink a little extra at the first water point. If memory serves the second water point is not at the top of the portage even though you will be dying of thirst by then.  :whistling:

Water point 2 is about 10km before the portage.

nope milky - big brother is on top form this year and hopefully won't go breaking bones a week before this time around. Sure we'll see you en route :-)

Don't know about the spoils of podium finishes - mixed has some mean competition this year but it's worth doing for the glory. Getting a sponsor on board would be good for some multi day events next year then maybe we could give it a go!

Does anyone know of someone who is able to transport a bike to W2W? I'm flying and don't want to lug the thing on the plane.

Same dilemma, I eventually bit the bullet and bough an Evoc bike bag. Extra luggage with BA turned out to be under R500 from Durban return.
