I have no idea what to expect ito congestion when we go off. I can guarantee you if I have an open M3 in front of me and a paceline that is working - I will be going for red mist. Each unto his own. If it is unsafe then so be it - then we trundle.

Genetics is a difficult thing to escape! (A race horse makes a useless cart horse.) ;)  :D

So do think the guys in 1A will trundle along with very little fans around (early morning) and full road closure?

#HAMMER!!!!! Even if there was a car in front of the group it would not help :D

The front of the ride will be as fast if not faster than it ever is. (Guys not holding anything back for the back half of the ride!) At full tilt the climb back up Wynberg hill and the short efforts back up past the Kirstenbosch turnoff in Newlands and finally Hospital Bend will be a test of stamina for sure!

Are there more than een baaiciclist?  Then it are a race!  Sub-one coming up!

That neutral kar had better be a Basil van der Merwe Perana V8.

Time to take off the bottle cage and the first sign of weakness to save weight!  Watch out for vomit on the way back past hospital bend.

Love your race strategy! Great minds think alike!

Collected my race nr this morning, overheard a couple of guys saying that they are gonna race as fast as possible. :cursing: REALLY, This has now become a fun ride. Put on your STRAVA and go and race 47km at home, you will just endanger the other riders. YES we are all upset, but thats the reality of being a fun ride. Just rock up and enjoy the ride and MAYBE YOU WILL MAKE SOME PROPPER FRIENDS AS YOU MEET AND TALK TO OTHER CYCLISTS.

Two things have changed, Smurfy:

The course

The new theme that acknowledges the circumstances

It is still a race

Be sure to warm up Hehehehe

I am putting the hammer down the moment the gun goes off Sunday.

it will be 47km of ears flat, balls against the wall, no holding back,  flat out speed riding....

It is on like donkey kong! :w00t:

Jip, agree with you guys, YOU ARE ALL SNAKES AND CAN HANDLE THE PACE IF NOT PROVIDE THE PACE. . The problem that I have is that the dudes starting after 7 all want to race and by then its chaos on the road. Swerving and cutting in and out will cause lots of crashes. I think that the medics will have a very busy day. The guys that I was referring to were all seeded in 4 something. Hope you all achieve your sub 1 :w00t: .

No need to worry. About 90% of people telling you how "fast" and "hard" they are going on Sunday will be falling off the back halfway up Wynberg Hill. From there it will be a safe little cruise in to the finish line.

Me, I'll be on my knobbles, riding with buddies starting around 08h00.

Make a day of it, maybe even stop for a Brekkie along the way.

I budgeted 3:30 for the ride, I'm gonna get my 3:30 out of it. :whistling:

lol, I can just see guys blasting off from the start line, racing up Hospital, Newlands and Wynberg, then legs are finished and the return is clear as everyone fried and stopped for a beer or drink of some kind. The Return will be nice and open again

Fall off the back, catch the next bunch, fall off the back. Racing. No problem. Hurtbox - lekka.
