Only do races that you normaly cant get access to.

Otherwise go out with your friends and ride ST at your own pace when ever you want. And your pace will be quicker than riding the same track at a race day.

Cheaper and far more FUN

Perhaps aggressiveness like this is understandable in the leading group, racing for the podium, but totally out of place further down the field. I trust that you are not condoning causing a fellow rider to crash and possibly seriously injured.

I agree with you re your take on aggressiveness. The reality though is that it happens all the time in races and most often being heightened/caused by slower or in-the-way-riders. I am also not condoning the causing of crashes neither am I condoning obstructive riding styles....let's move on...I want practical solutions plse.

The Monster comes to mind

Great example and just to echo what blondie says....the 70 and 45km merge close to the end...somewhere after the cell tower. Now there is still some singletrack in the mix, shouting and screaming at people in the 45km makes them nervous and unpredictable. Riding right on their wheel does exactly the same. Best result is to just sit patiently until its safe to pass for you and other person. They know you are there, I almost always get..."I will move over just now" or "do you want to pass". Now the thing with passing is that its up to you, the more experienced rider to take the lead and make it safe...I got stuck behind someone on the concrete slab bridge thing(close to the end) at the monster. There is no way you can pass someone even if they ask..."do you want to pass". Just told the person to not stress, I am in no hurry...and that they have right of way. Instantly they are relaxed and get on with riding instead of swerving all over the show. Then when it was safe, I told the person I am passing on his left...he doesnt have to move cause now there were space.

Everyone wins.

wow just wow

And you as a race organizer condone maybe even share in this behavior.....noted.

Let me also ask this to the singletrack heros....why was it ok for you to sit on the talentless dirt roadie's wheel before going into the singletrack?

Not so - out of context remark - how abt a solution?

Easy

Limit entries to what the trail can handle...dont over subscribe.(less money for the organizer but happier riders)

Dont merge different distances at the end...bad idea

Make the bulk of the climbing in the first half of the race...see mankele races for reference

Mark mark mark...and then mark again. The more, the better.

It's easier when you have breasts though............

Not true! A lot of guys won't move over for a chick, especially on a downhill. I mean imagine what their friends will save if a girl beat them downhill..........

It is a pity ben melt swanepoel isnt a hubber....I got passed by him in my very first race, I was moer nervous, but he was so chilled...and he is racing for podium spots here. Told me to relax...I have right of way. He will pass me when he can, I must just enjoy myself...

Is it in the race diary...will check it out.

To be honest, I like unknown races more than the big sponsered ones...I might just
