Hi all

Lets see.

Friend HAD a Spez Camber 2014 (small) 29er Carbon...

Got collected and redistributed to the more "needy"...

Keen on replacing with a 27.5.

She has a older 26er and love the speed of the steering, but also love the rolling of the 29er, decided 27.5 is just what she wants.

Of course she fell in love with the Carbon weight.

Price brace R35k.

What would you all say is her options.

Lets see whats comes out of the cracks :)

It might not be carbon, but if it were my money, I'd go for the 2014 Specialized Stumpjumper FSR Comp Evo 650B.

Alternatively, if she can twist her bank manager's arm, she can get the same bike with carbon frame for an extra R30k, give or take.

Thanks, I'll pass this onto her.

As for an additional R30k, hehee don't know if she and bank manager is such good friends, she is already adding in on the R35k after the insurance company paid out.

The bike or the brand NSBB?

The 2015 is not available yet, she has races coming up.

Any change from that bike is going to be a downgrade

I'll go for my standard in this segment - Trance 2 with upgraded wheels, fork and dropper. 20-25k base cost (incl dropper) then 10k for the upgraded wheels and fork.

She'll have a MACHINE.

me again, can't resist a trance post.

What rims and fork for 10k?? Hell even 15k.

Sell the fox on there for 7 to 8k, use that to buy an X Fusion Stance or RS Pike, and then the 8 to 10k left over to buy a wheelset. Those Fox forks will go for quite a bit, especially seeing as it'll fit on pretty much any Giant with OD2.

Or - if she's happy with the stock Fox, dedicate the entire 10k to a good wheelset.

I think you are being a tad optimistic there on the value of the stock fork (I hope I am wrong) Doubt one could get half of that.

At the moment I'm debating 2015 vs 2014. 2015 non OD2 fork should be a easier sell at like R5k.
