I want to cry!

I don't think there is anything wrong with this (other than having the name printed on it -- ethics). It is adding competition to the market and will inevitably drive down the hugely inflated prices!! Bikes are still a niche market and unfortunately all the big players are keeping their prices high. I have it on good authority that an alu frame could cost as little as 2k to roll, weld, and incl material..this same fram is painted and a pretty name applied and is sold for 14k.... what other industry is making that much profit ?

This is just silly, in all respect. If you feel something is too expensive and you dont get value for your money, dont buy it. There is absolutely no way this can be justified. If any company wants to make 100k profit on a frame, that is their business. It does not give anyone the right to go against the law, and try and profit from the brand that company has built up. It just isn't on.

It is the same as downloading pirate movies, getting some ebooks from your friend on a usb, etc. You are stealing from someone who has the right to earn income for the work they have done. There is no grey areas here.

In any case, if anyone feels 20k for a frame is too much, there is nothing wrong with it. But if you are willing to buy a fake replica for 8k, just so people think you have a cool bike, then it is time for some introspection.

If it doesn't say made in China, it's probably fake! Everything gets made in China!

All products exported from China says "Made in China".

Products made and sold within the Chinese borders are labelled "Made around the corner"

Pyga has just purchased its own Carbon Fibre Autoclave for making frames in Cpt, as per latest issue of Bike/Bicycling

Does that make them Proudly south african? What about the alu frames in their line up?

in all defense i did say "(other than having the name printed on it -- ethics)" A replica frame is exactly that a replica frame..however the ethics of putting the same brand name on a replica is wrong i agree! Making a profit is what all business strive for, but my argument is how affordable should biking be for everyone? Why should bikes cost 100k and others 10k with the same mold and and and..? Anyway.. moving along. I hear you and just wish it was more affordable for me to ride a santa cruz with sram components..#notgonnahappen.

Ja look, I agree. I will be the first to admit that anything bike related is WAY over inflated, thats a fact. But if I can be blunt, I also feel that using, say, a Santa Cruz mold to make an exact same bike frame as the Tallboy, and then just not brand it, is also not right. The R&D is where the big money goes into, and these okes just jump in the middle, and start copying frames that most people like. It's not right.

Making cycling affordable to the masses is a novel idea, but that's not how businesses operate currently. Also, there is a difference between making cycling more affordable, and wanting to ride a Santa Cruz with Sram components for 10k :whistling: (just pulling your leg here... a bit)

When making replica anything, one usually gets permission to do so form the OEM or rights holder...this is purely criminal behavior to put wannabe's on bikes they could not afford or either do not want to spend the money on...

I honestly hope they get shut down quickly

Look it all comes to perceived value...Some guys value a badge on the headtube, some value R&D, some value boutiqueness, some pure performance(as in lighter / stiffer) and then others local backup.

Carbon does nothing for me personally...its a cold material...nothing but a means to an end.

Hey you........you should still be in La-la-land.........enjoying a ride with a hot blonde on a tandem. This early morning stuff is buggering up your hormonal levels, circadian rhythm and ultimately CPU performance. The body needs some REM.

Please ignore above rant if a hot blonde is the reason for you being awake.......and it is not the pooch.

She's auburn. And hot...*swoon*

Heard a few stories where guys buy a Chinese knock off Colnago/ pinnarello and then insure it at the cost of a real one. Then take lots of photos of it etc ride around a bit then, oh no it gets stolen. Phone up insurance company and place an order for a brand new colnago/spez etc. Since bike is stolen and he claims he bought it second hand so no invoice, there is no paper trail.

That's taking illegal to an all new level!

Can't help but wondering how many bikes and frames in the classifieds are fakes.
