I've sold quite a few things on the Hub but nobody's ever given me any feedback ratings 

It would be nice if there was a feedback reminder system like eBay has.

I send the people a PM afterwards and ask them to leave feedback for me.

It only works if the people actually come back to the hub after selling the item though.

Most of the stuff I bought on here was before there was a rating system so mine is pretty low too.

The Anthem I bought a few weeks ago was from someone that registered here just to sell it and left again. You win some and lose some!

Was looking for a speed sensor for my polar HRM on gumtree when a guy responded.

We transacted but the next day mailed to say it was cracked and didnt want to send it only to find it faulty.

Sounded genuine.

He said he has just recently quite working for Shimano and had spares etc

Then says has a complete POLAR watch that he can do at a great price.

Again transacted via CASHSEND another R1000 bucks gone. that was the last I heard. He sounded genuine seemed to have some knowledge of the product. most communication was done via cellphone and odd mail

Ofcource all contact has vanished on the numbers he was using, and no response on Gmail account.

 

He was using NEVILLE DU TOIT as his name and was supposedly from Kimberely.

I will be laying a charge of fraud, would like to see if RICA & FICA now actually work !

Hey guys, i think i was dooped by the very same guy. But then he went by the name Ralph who was selling a set of Dura Ace wheels R4000. Also said he worked for Shimano and the wheels were demo's. From the sounds of it this guy really knows what he's talking about and comes across as very genuine. Also mentioned that he was dooped so many times before and bla bla bla. He even threw out names of Shops and employees of the shops.. ( Cant remember the names ).. so this guy has been around for a while i can imagine and really does know a thing or two about bikes etc... 

I bit more about how he scammed me. 

Advertised the wheels, said he was in Caledon and could meet me halfway in Somerset West. I thought great as they a good deal. Then said he wanted a deposit as he wasnt gonna ride down then i change mind. Of course due to excitement i paid the deposit and went through to SW. waited there the whole freaking afternoon and this guy was in contact with me for entire day via calls and Whatsapp. Saying he's on his way and stuck a bit of traffic etc.. Of course i realised this Drol was coming when all of a sudden his phone was off, whatsapp pic was off.. Drol vanished... 

Be careful of guys..  I was only taken for R1000.00 but it could have been worse....

Seems to me like most scams are people who live in Kimberly or George. I guess they think its unlikely you will be anywhere near to those towns to want to pick up the goods in person. I feel sorry for bikeshops or genuine sellers in those regions, but I'll always treat goods for sale from people living there with huge scepticism.

Problem is you'll never see them, the MO is to get you to transfer cash without getting anywhere near you, they will never deliver as they have nothing to deliver!
