I had a lekka ride on the 55km.  Nice enjoyable route, but maybe a bit too easy?  There was nothing technical at all.  And seriously dusty! And slippery...

Tip for next year - have a floating platform on that dam with the crystal clear water for riders to take a swim!  That water looked amazing!

Is it just me or did they slightly change the 55km route from last year. Managed to stay om my bike this year. :w00t: . Took of 20 min from last years ride, did a 3:46. Started towards the back of D group. Now to train for a 3:30 for next year. Decided to push hard(my pace) on the HILLS/CLIMBS as I was expecting congestion on the single tracks. Wasnt wrong, however there were some nasty falls. Hope they recover before the road race on Sunday. Lots of dust, luckily I ride with a Buff. If I may, may I suggest that they have a Lube point halfway(as with the K2C). Watching the Video clip last night with my wife made me wonder how mauch damage my drive train took with all that Dry dust eating into it. Sounds lick a Coffee grinder. Please have more Beer tens with cold beer. Ques are far to long. Other wise the event was awesone and fellow cyclists walked on the left and gave track where possible.

Yeah did a similar time, 3:52. Crazy dust but actually thankful for it cos I forgot to apply sunscreen and the dust created a nice little protective layer so no sun burn. Some nasty climbs! More training next year, much more training!

Oh yeah there were slips everywhere hey. Also so many riders pulled off to the side fixing chains/tyres etc.

Imagine if there had been technical parts as well - you'd be in another queue waiting to roll over it at 5kph

I think the route was good for that volume of riders, even if we did have to wait a bit on the ST.

That water looked incredible i couldnt stop looking at it , wasin 2 minds about stopping and swimming .

I had a great "ride" but i wont be back i find these mainstream races have way to much traffic, prefer smaller races with limited numbers.   The ST looked awesome but to much congestion couldnt really ride them like they deserved to be ridden.

A lube stand would have been amazing! I asked at the last three, but nothing doing. My bike sounded like an wheelbarrow. But the 55 was really lekker, but I got really tired towards the end. It was no orchard ride so congrats to the organisers!

I have nothing to complain about not even the

Dust. Yes it was dusty but I'll take that over mud anytime! Last 5kms you could hear the finish line commentator but we just kept going away & away, lol!!

That last piece of ST was the bomb, and I had no slow traffic in front of me there.  I passed one slow bloke there just before you enter it, as well as one unlucky bloke whose chain was lying in the dust.

I did 2:55 - not use to the intensity anymore, need to start getting into it again. Started in AA, had no congestion in the single track, was awesome - my 32t - 1 x 11 was perfect for the climbing - the ground was very loose on the downhill turns, I over compensated most of the time and lost some time. All in All a pretty decent route, marking was good and the drinks, burgers and ice cream on sale afterwards was awesome.

Not so great when you have a rider breathing down your neck, reeling you in with every meter, as a result one lapse of concentration & i cut my arm & ripped my shorts while trying to snake through 2 trees on that ST.

Oh, thanks to the dude in the SACS shirt for the race long battle.  We passed each other throughout the race, but I just had to put the hammer down in the last section to catch up and then pass 20m from the line

:D :D

There should be a "highlights package" on Supercycling in a week or two, as well as a program on one of the Supersport channels within a month or two.

Hate it when that happens, it's demotivating! So close yet so far!

The dust never had time to attach to your drive train at the pace that you flew the field. :w00t: Do agree with dust over Mud.
