A tailwind on the R44 would be so welcome....☺

The 2012 edition was blessed with a gentle North Western breeze

It's possibly, but unlikely hey

I look at the glass half full...

My son is looking forward to this one.  He will be on a Cannondale Super Six, and he only weighs 54kg, so he will smoke me on Hels.  I will probably only see him at the turn to Paarl, if ever.

At the Double century this weekend my friend was riding with his father, until his fathers bike broke terminally. Then his dad's bike became his bike and he waited to get picked up while his dad caught up with the team. This is the kind of thing you need to instill in your boy :P

He may ask why he has to ride a huge frame though!!!

Actually, even though he only weighs 54kg, he is almost as tall as I am (1.82), and he wears the same size shoes as I do.  He constantly grabs my Sidis for a ride, and we ride the same size frames.  Doubt he will wait for his dad.  He has too much competitiveness in him.

Yoh! 6 foot and weighing in at 54kg - must be a proper mountain goat. I thought I was like light for 6'1 at 62kg. Guess not anymore.

Wow, 54kg! You need to teach him how a domestique works :P He gets his entries paid for if 1 out of every 4 races he sticks around and pulls you along :D

What speed you looking at over Hels? Gonna be my first time on that side.

At the One Tonner the front runners did about 26km/h average up Helz - that's the speed you should aim for...

Me.  I would be happy to do about 15km/h.  My son will probably be about 22km/h.  He is still only 14, so although he is a tall thin bloke, his muscles has not yet come into their own.  He will be wearing the same kit as in this photo.  Way too thin to hide behind for a pull.  On his 29er here.

I did it at 15kph on Saturday - took it rather chilled. I reckon I will be aiming for about 18kph on Sunday. Anything higher than that would be a dream.
