YES really!!! ...let me explain, which i have now tried to do so many times and this is becoming so tedious i'm not even using punctuation anymore. Satire is a genre, saying something is satirical gives reference to qualities it may possess and in this case for me 'social criticism' is the only quality i have ever given any reference to. However the genre 'Satire' also does not have to contain any humor what-so-ever in order for it to be classified as such.

Now let me ask a question, do you think for one second, by using the word satirical, i have any less compassion for cyclists who have lost their lives and or been injured and I am in anyway diminishing the seriousness of such incidents?

Sorry pal, your grammar is leaving you at the start line .

And you should be "I"

I love this thread - what started as a real concern turned into a bunch of clairvoyants knowing exactly what the artist, listeners and each other meant.

Throw in the usual "I know more/post more and do more than you" so I have more right to my opinion and its just another downward spiral into hubdrivel.

It's classic Le Hub.

Nothing new.

Again, I merely answered your post which came across as the intention to be personal.

That post of yours had nothing to do with the image either.

Again I ask, what have you done for the safety of cycling ?

I can only assume the reason you keep asking the question is because it is probably loaded in your favour as you are inevitably involved in cycling safety in some way and upon my answer you'll get to unroll your CV and claim victory. Over what, I don't know. I'm also unsure what the point is. Would your involvement in cycling safety give you a greater understanding of the picture? Of the people who voted for it? Of the person who drew it? And would my lesser involvement in organised cycling safety diminish my abilities and my opinion? I'm starting to get the impression you merely enjoy the argument because you seem intent on not letting me leave it. I'm afraid I don't have your attrition. So again let me wish you well and I hope none of us are ever involved in cycling accidents no matter what we think of a silly picture. Good riding.

Gees, you gotta love these threads were there are too equally valid viewpoints and both sides are too up themselves to acknowledge the other one could even exist.

My own O. P. I. N. I. O. N: that illustration is the very definition of holding follies, vices, abuses, up to ridicule ie satire. Right up to the point of the black dog where he takes it over the line. Somewhere in the continuum between total offence and free speech you guys could all be a little wrong and a little right. Too bad so much is said in the name of awareness, while the only awareness never shown is the one that starts with 'self-'. Each to his own.

Right you are, it's in my favour.

You have had lots to say and showed a less sympathetic approach to the cyclists and cycling community regarding the nature of this image, which for what it was worth, had nothing to do with cycling, cycling safety but the Heartbeat of Jozi.

If you actually did a little something , some small contribution to the safety of cyclists, you might have also seen the offense in this poorly edited piece of digital rubbish.

It was insensitive and for sensationalism and votes from someone with no artistic skill.

The fact that 94.7 were so proud of it initially, that is just a little scary .

For the love of God, what does that even mean Wyatt?  You honestly cannot be that narrow minded, that you can't for one second acknowledge another point of view other than your own, as others have yours. Maybe I have too much faith... however, me thinks you're a class A *** stirrer and therefore I humbly bow out of this 'debate' and officially declare you the winner, well done! As a prize, you definitely get the wooden spoon....

It means that you are teaching us/me about how satire and satirical have nothing to do with each other, then you forget to call refer to yourself as "I" instead of i.

Nothing else.

Nice one, my first compliment for the day.

Hear hear. Sadly the people that need this kind of advice are the ones least likely to read the post!

That's why I posted, so that I could raise "awareness" to a good post, and then one day when I get asked "What have you ever done for the Hub" I can cite this.

That's pretty sweet .
