Back to the winner: a very popular win for "Robocop".

Awesome to see someone like him get some glory after a selfless career as rouleur-domestique.

His avg cadence was like 59 or something

Sheer watts, like a turbine

Had a quick look at Robocop's palmares, and I see this is not his first Giro win.

Kiryienka has previously won two stages of the Giro d'Italia: in 2008 (for Tinkoff Credit Systems) and in 2011 (for Caisse d'Epargne).

In 2008, he was victorious in stage 19, a mountainous affair leading to Presolana, after spending the day on the attack and registering more than 6 hours and a half in the saddle.

In the 2011 edition, he was part of a long breakaway and made it to destination solo in a mountain stage that took the riders to Sestriere. He had more than 4 minutes of an advantage over the second of the day, Jose Rujano of Androni Giocattoli.

Sorry about that.

OK then, who are we allowed to talk about then? Just give us your list of approved riders so that we don't make that mistake again.

No Porte, Wiggins or Froome! Only Porte riding here so should be easy enough

You're going to love this years Hub TDF thread then aren't you... ;)

So speaking of Porte. He has lost a ton of time but I'm really quite curious about how he will go on the big hills tomorrow.

I hope we have a cracker. To my my limited knowledge Contador looks the business. Up to the others to take the race to him now.

Anyone not keen to read about Porte feel free to ignore this.

Nice ride by Berto.

Aru eventually did disappoint,Gen (although 29/179 not terrible)

Tomorrow should be good too.

Conti looks very good and to have a decent lead like that this early relives a lot of stress for the rest of the race and there for the double. Not a forgone conclusion but he's in the drivers seat. P

Porte can't do more and if it's injury or the cover of injury then. Rolling that far behind is making up numbers. If I was a team director I'd be seeing a major utility for the tour. The gorilla quit as expected today to prep for France.

Great to see Konig get back into the top 10 and Kiri' for the stage.

The less said about LL Sanchez @ second the better. The fact most of the major press outlets ignored it in their reports speaks volumes.

All in all the giro is living up to it's rep as the crazy half brother of the grand tours and by far the most exciting, interesting and unpredictable. Love it.

Oh Yeah for sure, third overall on the day and only 14 secs off, I recon its more of a wipe out, the closest of the GC rivals on the day was Uran, over 2.30 back.

To me that was a one man demonstration of absolutely superior strength and experience, magnificent to watch,.. however, as is always said, its not over yet, anything can happen, but barring an unfortunate incident 'Berto is going to "white wash" this Giro.

I really didn't think Aru did too badly considering his previous performances in the TT, it was suggested he would lose 4 minutes or more, so only losing around 2.45 to 'Berto is a good result for him I recon.

Landa unfortunately had a shocker, so I think we can safely assume in the future the TT is not his forte' ^_^ , but with three strong riders from Astana in the top 10 he is in good company.

Well I got my wish. Only one Astana rider in the top 5. Still three in the top 10. Perhaps we can get that down after tomorrow.

Tough mountain top finish tomorrow and having 2 handy climbers around him is going to make Aru feel a bit better, but 'Berto has a big enough gap to just ride on Aru's wheel for the rest of the week and maintain his time lead,... of course he wont do that though, he has never gotten those "sensible" memo's, so expect some violent attacks from him at some stage,.. just cos he feels good, or just to prove a point, ........Oh yeah, its gonna be a dusi!

Astana will throw in as much attacks as possible and maybe even send Dario ahead to see if he can get a break. It will end up being a tactical battle now.

Let's not forget that Aru only got into pink because of an incident in the first place.

He never rode himself into pink, others crashed him into pink.

Lol.. I liked that. 'Others crashed him into pink' he he he

Come on, whatever happened to that true Ozzie grit?

If Porte can still ride well enough, they'll just change their strategy, going for stage wins instead. As Kiryienka said yesterday: "It seems that it is difficult for the overall now, but in the next few days of course we'll be there and we're going to try and fight for wins."
