Loved everything about it! I did the 30km, was easiest except that last mother of a hill eish!

Any one know what the exact distance was for the 30km run?

My computer showed 33.5km

Really enjoyed it this year, was going to give it a skip because of all the bottlenecks the previous years, but decided to give the new route a chance.

Congrats to the organizers for setting a great 30km route with no bottle-necks. That last hill was a killer, but well worth it.

Will definitely be back next year.

Awesome day out on the bike. Saw a bunch of noobs at the watering points that don't look and just cross in front of you as you want to pass. Almost rode into one guy as he just walked over the path not looking.

Strava records moving time while Racetec shows total time including stops

Correct.

RaceTec records two times, start and finish and calculates your average speed based on the time it took you to complete the race distance.

I thought there would be bottlenecks due to the single track in NF being tight and no where to overtake. Also a couple of sharp little climbs and stuff. Awesome to hear the guys at the back actually got to enjoy riding this year. I take back my concerns. It actually was like a proper MTB race this year with some tough riding. I really enjoyed it too. Except for that smelly section between the start and Heron Bridge... WOW

But would they then use the 55km or (as some stated) 59km distance to calculate average speed?

Race/route director was Richard Beswick, Avianto trails is his baby plus a wealth of cycling/MTB experience.

What a difference it makes getting the right person on board in this capacity. Take a bow HSP & Richard.

On racetec's site they use the 55km distance to calculate the ave speed displayed.

Also the official start time is when the gun (or whistle) goes off not when you cross the line so the whole group gets the same start time.

Not sure. Maybe mail RaceTec and find out.

If you personally tracked your ride, you'll know what your average speed was, so RaceTec's calculation thereof is irrelevant.

Isn't the timing starting when you cross the first mat?
