Maybe I'm getting soft, but I'm not looking forward to red dust (mud if it rains and there probably will be at least a little rain or a lot of dew) everywhere. I love camping (and riding!) at Mankele and have done 24hr rides at Nothern Farms, Rietvlei and Van Gaalens, but all of them have nice grassy camping areas. Like I say, maybe it's time to face the fact that I am indeed getting soft...Sorry My Friend, I did work hard to cultivate the grass camping area at Rietvlei but it has been taken back by the Management to increase their picnic area. The current situation there does no longer lend itself to racing. We do clear the parking area at Thaba and the course does wend it's way through the entire camp site. Lets hope there is no rain, but if it does rain the trails at Thaba dry out much quicker and no BLACK MUD.

I understand that there are a lot of factors involved when organizing a race and realize that some things are beyond your control. If I don't make it to the 24hr I will definitely continue riding both at Rietvlei and Thaba!

A great 7 km track will be used and NOT any of the heavy,hilly..technical challenges typical of Thaba Trails... flowing and fun... FOOD for the entire duration of the Race..with a bonus of local fast food delivery service from KFC...NANDO and Pizza's from ROMANS....Illy coffee for the experts and 24 hour coffee station... entries open at bikeabout...Hi Wendell, Unless I am missing something.............I do not see much info about this event...........bikeabout is an entry portal.................not much info..............is there a link/site with relevant info?Will you take entries on the day?Camp site cost extra?Are there catergory prozes??...............and so on.............Regards

Mighty peed off that its not going to happen. Thaba is the alternative but i have mixed reviews on the suitability of the camping site. PLus the routes are notoriously up and down and technical rather than like VG's 24 houre route which is what I judge all on. Thaba is unknown to us soft boys from the North.  WE need an honest Souffern Boy to tell us its Kiff. Can someone help me wrt the following: 1.) Camping - (we do sleep) - will you have a campsite or will the oke three tents down with a bad snoring problem keep you all awake. I hear its a gravel parking lot? Can you set up a nice site and have a camp fire and some hot chocolate with rum and talk twak to your mates or is it not conducive to a nice night out like VG was ? 2.) Entry? 3.) Route ?   Â
