Comfortable mtb gloves

I have tried so many different mtb gloves and have yet only found the Giro Monaco to actually be comfortable. The problem with the Monaco is that it falls apart after 6 months and is expensive.

All other gloves that I have tried is uncomfortable because of the padding under the knuckles digging into the hand when gripping the handle bar. This is very uncomfortable on long rides.

Are there any other gloves besides the Giro Monaco that is comfortable (flatter foldable padding under knuckles) , and can last longer than 6 months?

Short or long finger?

I find the Mr Price Maxed gloves comfy and durable. Not badly priced either.

Either short or long, just a glove that is not padded incorrectly to add discomfort and lasts longer than 6 months.

Gloves are a hard topic. Everyone wants something different. I HATE padded gloves, the pads twist, turn and pinch my hands. I ride smooth palms, so ZERO padding. At the moment I have Fox gloves, bought from Full Throttle Motorbike store, was on special for R150 and they have been going for about 2 years now, only had them stitched up on the thumb where the stitching wore out.

Ryder make a fingerless glove with padding on the heel of the hand, cheap and tough.

Thanks I will be looking to try some of these.

It is very much the same as shoes, in that thicker padding is needed in arch/hollow of the foot/hand, and thinner under the pressure points. I think everybody will find it much more comfortable if designed correctly in gloves, as is done for all shoes.

Just be careful when shopping at FT.  Bought a pair of gloves that did not last at all.  I took them out of the packet and the stitching was busted.

Took it back and was told that I would have to live with the gloves like that.  But refused and after about 30 minutes and a lot of this and that, I got the one manager to refund me.

Got a pair of Fox gloves that lasted one and a half years.  Still wear them (there are a few holes where the stitching let up) but they still work when I use the motorbike.

Have a pair of gel padded gloves.  Got them for my last 94.7 (think 2006) and they are still perfect.

I have a pair of Specialized full finger gloves that I am quite happy with.
Haven't had them very long so can't comment on durability yet, but they have something on the fingertips so you can use touch screen devices while wearing them which is quite cool.

Edit; same gloves I am talking about:

Do yourself a favour and test a pair of Spez Body Geometry Ridge gloves.

Got myself a pair and they are awesome. The top of the hand is a very thin, breathable fabric, so there is nothing irritating your skin. It also has no padding in the fold of your hand, so it doesn't diminish your "trail feel". It has padding on the heels, to prevent pinching of the ulnar nerve.

And it also has Spez's Wiretap - so you can operate a touch screen without having to take off your glove.

I have been alternating between a pair of Thor MX gloves and a pair of Fox MX gloves for the last few years. I prefer full finger gloves personally and the padding on  cycling gloves irritates me. I would rather have the padding on the grips than on the gloves. I have a set of Race Face Good and Evils on my DH bike and love them. Looking at a set of ODI Rogues or TLD's for my trail bike.

I was about to say "Shoot me but..." and now I see Grebel has stolen my shot. I got a friend to pick me up some MX gloves at a motorbike shop. I can't be sure, think it's also Thor. Love it and will only use my Specialised gloves if really no other option.

Much more sturdy and durable as well, my next will be exactly the same.

Bought a pair of "Giant" Long Finger gloves at Sportsmans Wharehouse a few years back. (paid something like R120.00 for them). I only use them when riding Mtb, and they are still going strong. (never use short fingers on the Mtb, summer or winter)

Colour has faded a bit, but otherwise no real issues.

Go have a look at the range of gloves at your local MotoX shop, they mainly do full finger gloves but I have found some awesome ones from them.

Edit: Grebel beat me to it, :-)
