SURFER Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 Hy friend needs to choose between Scott Scale 920 and Giant XTC 29 er (both carbon fibre frames) and tubeless kit installed. Price almost the same. What is the best choice

Personally id go for the GIANT but that's just because i'm biased . But hey, NINO rides a scott so it cant be that bad. Jokes aside either way you'll end up with a decent 29er.

BrandonF_ Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 I've had both. 2014 Scott Scale 920 - Only (tried to) like it for two months Current, the Giant XTC Composite 1 - I LOVE IT Differences, the Giant's head angle is way steeper than the Scott (can be seen comparing the attached photos), allowing fast response in tight switch backs, an aggressive style riders dream The Scott just felt so boring,.. I bought it brandnew and sold it two months later. GIANT all the way, case closed.

Tankman Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 Yup, they said it ... Giant XTC Giant comes with SLX brakes, Scott has the M615 non series Shimano brakes. The Giant looks prettier, responds better and I just love & trust their carbon more than Scott's. The Giant wheelset is slightly heavier than the Syncross wheelset but they are bomb proof! 2x Epics later and I have only trued the rear twice. Im too "strong" for the likes of light Crest wheelsets anyway, so I didnt really see the need to updrade on the wheels. If Giant decides to do the Advance SL XTC or Anthem in the green I love, I have a need to upgrade!

Some things to consider;If you are short- I don’t think you can fit 2 bottle cages in the Medium Giant????? (Not 100% sure)The Giant would probably be about 300+ grams heavier than the Scott.The 2015 Scott 920 looks better than the Giant XTC advance. (for me)Most of the problem/claims from the Carbon Scott were caused by QR at the back wheel.2014 and ’15 have Thru Axle.

Discovered a small crack on my Anthem last week, took it in on Monday, will receive my newly built bike tomorrow. That is less than a week! (Thanks SingleSpeedWill and Daryn)
