I'm a nobody and have an entry for the 75km. It might hurt a bit but the race organisers don't seem to mind.

This event is open for everyone and note just catered for the PRO's or serious riders... :)

I spoke to someone on committee yesterday...never been any official request for land usage as far as I could ascertain.

#justsayin

Yes they have been
Sean Noble was notified in October & Louis Loubser.

They have a committee meeting tomorrow and will discuss some things then.  ^_^

I'm sure you can give advendurance the benefit of the doubt here? Surely they would not just organise a race on other people's property without getting permission - maybe some miscommunication within the committee?

Absolutely, also WesselvdWalt has answered all our questions and concerns. I have every reason to believe him. Shaping up to be a great great race. Cannot wait.

Robert Starke from Contermanskloof has made some minor changes to the 40km route, the waterpoint will be on the bike shed side, this will also be a tech support area for any riders. This will also be a spectator zone on the day, so if you are not riding come check it out and support your riders and support this great new coffee shop! Great coffee! I've had :)

Oh and for those wondering there will be trail maintenance done on the trails post the event for which we will provide funds.

Welcome to Cape Town the city of bitchers and moaners.

I am looking forward to this race. Thanks to you for bringing it to us. I take it this has replaced the Tulbagh race?

I just want to point out that it's actually been a pleasure so far.

The only problem was in getting to understand the relationship with Tygerberg MTB club and Meerendal and getting things in place have taken longer because of this unfortunately.

Much better than being chased around with guns, and being shot at up here in Gauteng! (no jokes)

Yes Tulbagh has been replaced with this event, so it's closer for everyone.

I believe that at least one of the farms has refused permission for the race to take place on their trails, which is probably due to the fact the the organisers went over Tygerberg Mountain Bike Club's heads and contacted the land owners directly. Another land owner who did grant permission has been taken to task for this. The reason is not anything against the race as such, but just which trails will be used, as the club will have to spend a heap of members' money afterwards to get the trails sorted out again.

Last week was the first time that the club committee were formally contacted about this event and which trails were going to be used.

If this is true, it's not good at all.

So, if it's true that TBMTB has not been considered and does not sanction this event, does this mean that PAYING members of TBMTB have nowhere to ride on that day? What about gate-crashing the party and riding anyways?

Just asking. Since this is just a load of cr@p if it's true. :cursing:

This is not the only race held on Tygerberg trails, what do you usually do on the days of the Epic, Durbie Dash, 99er etc?
