I keep seeing phrases like blood, pain, tears...... What is with you Capies, scared a little?

I am looking forward to the trip, profile looks flat with a few nipples........

I like the stoutheartedness! My only advice is "brace yourself" - Contermans/Hillcrest/Meerendal are a little hillier than Jhb

Can't be we have mountains and wind, besides we train at altitude with the sun.......

Can't argue with logic like that

Pain etc aside - the course is awesome. The singletrack at Hillcrest is fast and flowing, the stairway to heaven climb is fun (2014 epic riders will be familiar with it), the Burry Stander tribute route is bermed and fast (although a little brake rutted at the moment) and the scenery is stunning. Gonna be an awesome day out. I hope my legs pitch up on the day!

Just so I can get a bearing on your riding... How did you do at Attakwas?

Was to busy doing interval sprints up old JHB road strava segment 2, had no time for Attakwas, besides I hear that is a dirt road ride

Wow, I haven't been paying attention and I just saw the route for the ultra. Knowing those trails individually and sometimes doubling up, I just have to say you okes are both mental and extremely brave!!! I once on a very hot day only did Meerendal and then Hoogekraal and back up Vissershok for about 40km and I was broken. Good luck to all! (and I had a rather painful OTB on what is normally a pleasant ride at Contermanskloof a couple of weeks ago and it is much more tricky than usual at the moment to my skills... So even more respect!) I hope for race reports from up country folk! :)

With all the monster hill climbs and epic technical singletrack you ride daily on the Spruit, you Gautengers are totally over-prepared for this little race. You must be torn deciding between doing this on your roadbike or doing a double lap of the ultra just to get a bit of a challenge this weekend  ^_^  Take it easy on us Capies this saturday...

mast climb is paved on the top now were it was totally rutted so makes it easier, u will still b in z4/5 without a doubt, trails is loose & dry, especially the back section of hoogekraal if u don't keep ur concentration BOOM front teeth are out
