Shouldn't have done that. I've been waiting for 3 weeks for my stuff to arrive.

It's stuck at the bloody mail centre at the airport because of the strike

For a set of wheels I really hope you're going DHL Super_mil.

Paid for my new Pike on Tuesday night, was delivered to my desk Friday lunchtime

Just got rims coming and I'm in no rush to get them built up just yet, DH season is still a couple months away...

{edit to add} Plus I still to measure everything up before ordering spokes (locally) so I can start the build(s).

Will just have to wait and see I guess.

Thought never even crossed my mind at the time.

I'm wondering if it'll ever be deliveredk

the problem with mavic rims outside of the yellow ones, they aint flash enough. But more bombproof you cannot get. They are so strong they barely ding even if your tyre's running a bit low. I'm a huge fan of them, having run Deemax and EX 823s on my DH bike, and now EN 821s on my trail bike. EN 821s feel as solid as the 823s, but much lighter.

Flow EX's are damn good, but the rim seems abit softer than mavic's.

I didn't have a good experience with spank spike rims. They dinged super quick. was very annoying. However, as others have pointed out, it was a problem with the older generation of spank rims. Still, it left a lasting impression, so I wont buy spank rims in a hurry.

Love that mavic is fully UST compliant, so no rim tape and zero risk of spoke exploding through the rim into the tyre as there are no spoke holes.   I would love a flashier set of rims, but I like the peace of mind mavics provide even more.

Agree with you 100%

I'm not into flash. For me Black on Black with black stickers is perfect.

I have had an instance where I've broken a spoke off inside an 823 rim. Having the little nipple rattling around in there was annoying. I eventually solved the problem with a magnet and a lot of patience.

i am contemplating buying some mavic 521. However I see they are not tubeless compatible. Do you think ghetto tubeless is gonna hold up on these?

I've got the 319s which is a grade lower than the 5 series mavics. The 319s seal up pretty okay with rim tape, have them like that for around 1 year now with no issues so far. So I think the 521s will be okay too. Rim rape / Ghetto... Bet both will be fine.

Oh, forgot to mention 319s - also not tubeless rims.

I have made those exact rims into tubeless without a hassle at all.

Rode 317s tubeless for a few years, no issues. Gorilla tape conversion with 2.25 Ardents.
