It's not bad it's just an additional hassle. Part of the joy of SS is the zero maintenance fun of getting on the bike and simply riding. Chain tensioners have to be regularly tightened, etc.

Try get a frame with a bit of compliance in it....steel, ti, some carbon jobbies also.

 

My vote would be for steel and not alu.

For me, purely the Look Of The bike with no dangling bits and bobs. Just chain in that sweet shape..

I have a square taper 33t crank if you're interested.

Look at rapide.co.za for ss bits or a carbon fork.

 

Check the chines carbon thread for a list of chinese carbon manufacturers. Maybe look at an integrated stem/fork from the frame supplier.

 

If you want a good cheap suspension fork look at the suntour epicon. Things that push the price up without your realising. .. grips, rotors, tyres. Chat to your lbs about oem parts that were upgraded by the buyer.

I recently rode my mates single speed, and really enjoyed it.

Id like to try build a nice one but on a tighter budget.

 

Where can i find a chinese carbon frame , not a dodge one (or are they all dodge?)

Looking to build it as light as i can .

I currently hav a set of wheels, so looking for the rest of the bike in parts

seen a few items in the classifieds, but where else is a good place to start looking ?

Didn't really try anything, fitted a 32*18 and fitted the chain .... Maybe with others it wouldn't be so easy? Half link does seemingly make it a lot simpler .....
