Frosty Posted February 10, 2015 Author Posted February 10, 2015 I will do this race this year as a big thank you to our Lord and my family. Suffered a heart attack last year after the race, and after 4 stents and a lengthy recovery is now back to full recovery and riding againGood for you! Welcome back - hope you have a great ride.
Mats Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 I have only one objective and that is to better my seeding. To do that I just need to stay on the bike. Surely it cannot be that difficult.

VVC Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Tx. Gerhald. Just registered myself and three mates gonna be a lakker one. How does the 103kms race compare to Berg and Dale race of 2weeks ago in terms of elevation and climbing. Berg and Dale about 1080m. Hope i did not miss similar response earlier.

scotty Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Race is deceptive in that its "flat" but plenty riders make the mistake and think that because its fast in the beginning its like that the whole route, ridden the 103km route about 6 times and made the mistake 6 times. The road past the informal settlement and R23 return to Carnival waits for you
Frosty Posted February 10, 2015 Author Posted February 10, 2015 I've seen 550m of elevation, so I' not 100% sure how flat it is. The trade winds vary anywhere from NW to NNE, so it means a head/cross-head wind over the last 30-40km. Doesn't affevt the wheelsuckers but if you get dropped it's a long grind back to Carnival City.
The_black_stig Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 The road past the informal settlement and R23 return to Carnival waits for you I'll rather worries more the section from Heidelberg to Nigel...hills and "opportunistic township kids + teenagers" are my lesser of the concerns.
Speed Racer Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Entered Stoked to be doing this event again after missing the last few years due to clashes with Audax events. Hoping Sunday's 400 doesn't scrub off too much of my speed

The road past the informal settlement and R23 return to Carnival waits for you [emoji317]We hopefully have those sections sorted with some BIG intimidating CPF guys that don't take k@k.I'll rather worries more the section from Heidelberg to Nigel...hills and "opportunistic township kids + teenagers" are my lesser of the concerns. We have got written undertaking from Eskom that they will keep their trucks off the R42 between Heidelberg and Nigel on race day. Speed limit will be reduced from 100km/h to 60km/h. More marshals and patrols from a local trucking company will also be there.
