The "I hate Specialized" Bandwagon...... what's the deal?

From what I remember in the Giant Bicycles factory in China for Carbon and some alu.  And Merida China too....

 

Giant makes all their higher end bikes in their Taiwan factory as they say the quality is better! 

 

Not sure of 2015 though, but remember seeing loads of Specialized boxes in the Giant factory years ago.

Also how "superior bikes" are simply made in the cheap factories.  Doesn't take away from anything, but certainly not the image the brand and it's brand sluts want to portray.

And China is a homogenous manufacturing entity ?

 

1.3 Billion people and close on 2 Million factories and they all produce exactly the same quality ?

 

I am not sure that because the Volkswagen group also produce Polo and Seat cars, it detracts from the "brand sluts" who appreciate their Porsche or Veyron. So why is it different when a premium brand like Specialized oversee their manufacturing in the east ?

Specialized has a a very good marketing department  and it  makes me wonder what Giant and likes of Scott are thinking especially Scott because i would think if the latter would market themselves like S have then it might be a different story.

 

For the record a cannondale seems to attract some attention as well as many just dont like the fact that Cannodale dont see the point in wasting material having two sanctions where one does the job.

 

Imagine if Specialized had a decent engineering department that came up with the idea of having a lefty fork I think they might be selling twice the amount of bikes for even more money .

I think as a brand strategist it's interesting to watch people defend brands or purchases.  Whether it's a bicycle, car or wrist watch.  Some really open the door for a brand to get a bad rep, whereas 90% of the people buying the product chose it because they aligned with what they saw a good fit.

I know that "a brand strategist" operates in the world of hocus pocus, but surely a good one would not assume that people who participate in a debate only do so to defend their purchases.

Perhaps something they went through a few hours after buying the bike and then seeing all the other's they could have bought instead.

People will always buy in the brand they want  and will hardly admit if they bought wrong so they will always defend even if they know they are wrong
