I am very aware of Rule#1 but what about a Camelbak for hydration?

5litres of water on your back can kill you!

you can see ons some of my pics i posted above, the camel is strapped ontop of the panniers

Previous post misadventure!

Try again.

Little is best.  Especially hanging off your seat.  Prevents you taking "extras" and teaches you to pack properly.11 ltrs is fine just add a bar roll, frame pack - not my choice, and keep your back pack as light as possible.  As Freak said, 5kg on your back the whole day will slay you properly.

Larger and then trying to compress does not necessarily work due to the compression straps having to work from a different position (if you get what I mean)

just to bring this up again.......can we get those under saddle bags in SA or is it something that will need to be imported ?

I recall Sepia saying he got the last one ?

Got the second last one?  I think maybe/perhaps/could be Eddy will take the remaining one.  Definitely a good price considering what they cost now.  Plan to be making a couple of my own though.

Just get it. Seriously, you will thank me later.

I received 2 x Revelate Viscacha bags from www.cycletouring.co.za

Very highly recommended - GREAT SERVICE and product.  You do have to pay by EFT but all good and stuff sent by courier immediately.

Sepia, is that the same bag as the ones from the bikes on the Munga thread?

Sepia has lent me his BRAND NEW, unused Apidura seatbag to test out and as my one daughter turns 21 tomorrow and another is getting married on Saturday, I thought I would postpone my purchase of a seatbag until I need one again.

So, if you want one ( and having seen Sepia's one) they look brilliant, get the local one. The price is good and they still had it yesterday.

Also, I bought a small Revelate frame bag from cycle touring at lunchtime today. I got an email from the courier company before 3 to tell me that they have collected it. Excellent service.

Thx, but I am more concerned about the official Bike hub Festive season biggest loser competition........:-)

Hell Eddy, best of luck with all your celebrations!   Drop the ball and eat too much cake and drink copious amounts of beer.  You will ride it off in the Karoo anyway.

There is a guy that has cycled over 35,000 km through 4 continents (Australia, Europe, Asia, North America)

He has a facebook page, contact him, I am sure he will be able to give you all the info you need about long distance bikes.

His page name is "Around 7 Continents", pop him a message he will be able to help!

Regards
