This email just popped up in my in box, a Sad day for Durban cycling and thoughts go out to the Family.

"Hi Everybody,

As many of you already know, We as a family have been very hard hit with Sally undergoing Emergency Brain Surgery after been diagnosed with a brain tumour a few weeks back.

We are in very, very difficult times as Sally goes through daily Radiation and Chemotherapy and my priority at this stage is to ensure we keep her as well as possible and spend as much time as I can on assisting her.

In line with our situation, it brings an end to a 35 year business which we started in 1979. I am forced to close down the business and I guess with it, a bit of an era in Durban Cycling. We have such great memories of all the cyclists, from racers to social riders, who have also become friends over the years.

In order to raise funds for the route ahead, We will be running a MASSIVE CLOSING DOWN SALE!! starting from Thursday the 20Thth till Wednesday 26thOne Week only and While stocks last!!!!

If you are interested in a “Wisey cycling kit"as a memento, or just would like to support us by popping in to the store and purchasing any products that we have, from bikes to gloves to lights, tyres, tubes or whatever, all stock will be on BIG SPECIALS with discounts on some clothing and other products of up to 50%.

There are some super deals on Bikes as well, (Giant Carbon Road Bike, and 2015 Anthem Package )amongst others at never to be repeated prices.

Note we will be open on Saturday till 15h00 and again on Sunday from 08h00 till 12h00 to make shopping a little easier.

Appreciate if you can pass this mail on to any friends you have who may be needing something in the cycling lineas well.

The good news for those who are regular supporters of Wiseman Cycles in the Durban and Berea areas, a new "Hattons Superstore" will be opening in our Premises in Glenwood Village during December to look after you with a super range of New bikes and Accessories and a full workshop available as well.

Thanks again to all of you who have supported us and my family over so many years and our best regards and hopefully I will see you on the road again sometime soon.

I bought my first Le Turbo from Dave down the bottom of Berea Road in 1987.  Was still supporting them until last month.   Wishing you all well and thanks for the service to the Durban cycling community for all these years.  You guys really lived up to the title of "my favourite LBS"!

Shyte man.... my first road bike came from them (a Goldhill). I bought my second from them as well (Peugot Mirage). A Mongoose Motomag came a few years before the Goldhill and more recently a Schwinn roadbike and my trysty Teocali was purchased from them as well.

Dave, if you read this, thanks for the memories!

Very sad news. Dave was the shop to go to back in the day, he had all the best stuff.

My folks bought me my first real race bike from Dave, a 1988 Hansom in Reynolds 525 tubing with Shimano 105. I still have that bike, fully restored back to its former glory. Rode amashova on it this year.

I loved walking around the shop in Berea Road when we came down to Durban...

Good luck to Dave and his family.

Thoughts with Dave and his family. Our family also had to deal with someone with a brain tumour. It's tough. Bought my first bike from him in about 1986. The idea was to supplement my running but the gearing on that beautiful red Le Turbo was heavy. Riding home from work in Durban to Pinetown was a mission.

30 mins in to work and an hour and a bit to get home.... I lived in Pinetown and worked on Maydon Wharf. Bunny hopping raiway lines was interesting but the ride home after a long day was rough.....

I use Dave Wiseman as my LBS as it's close enough to get to in a lunchtime. Not a Hattons supporter so guess I'll have to leave the shopping to the weekends now....

I bought my first mtb from you at the end of the 80's, through Craig.

That started off my love of Kona as a brand, and mountain biking in general.

Prayers go out to you and your family Dave.

I would love to get some Dave Wiseman Cycling kit as my 24year old DWC kit is tired.
