Glad she's back but I must agree with Ben, it's not yours to buy back. It belongs to the insurance company now. Let them recover it. Can't hurt to offer to buy the salvage from them though....

Well in a bit of a predicament there.

My 2cents worth is it to nice to just let it go but you can now negotiate with the insurance co and see if you can come up with a deal to get it back.

Yuses. That is crazy. Amazing how they "found" it today. Anyway for all the good you have forwarded on the old hub I will donate R200 for the buy back if you go that option. It is Christmas that's about all I have left so let us know your decision.

Merry Xmas Dips

I'll add another 200 if i Dips tells me where i cant buy some dayglo grips just like his...and don't go tell us the thieving swine must have put them on...

Jason, use the common sense you are already applying, let the bike go, move on, and stay alive.

Something smells funny, and it ain't your feet this time.

I speak from personal experience here. I know it's an emotive thing when it comes to bikes. I bought back my stolen and recovered bike. The insurance company had already paid me out.

When I told them I'd recovered the bike they came to my house and took it away and did not refund the money i spent recovering the bike.

If the insurance company has paid you out do not get involved. It's not your bike anymore. Learn from other's stupid mistakes. (Mine)

If you do go, go with a lot of very large friends. Preferably bad tempered trigger happy types.

Haha. My wife (Who happens to be an insurance broker) told me DO NOT GET INVOLVED!! Of course I didn't listen. Bought the bike back thinking is was being a good citizen. Dumb.

I know it's an emotional thing and I feel for your loss but getting her back will feel like getting back with a girlfriend who's cheated on you. She will be a bit tainted.

So they want you to go fetch it, and then take it to them?

YIP

Trust them brother - they won't stick a gun to your head, drag you to the nearest ATM and force you to drain your account or anything!

It's a bleak situation - that is was a one of a kind machine that you put loads of passion into. Now it's just another stolen bicycle (like a trillion others) in SA.
