wow, surely last twist in the tail. It seems the forward movement of all the top guys has slowed since Sutherland. Maybe all running on fumes now, time will tell if they went out too hard.

Tim brink also had stomach issues and pulled out. I would guess the heart factor has played its role here.

I am in awe and very inspired. I will certainly stop being such a wuss about training. I will also look into the setup the Dreyers' have going.

KUDOS to John and every single entrant. And a lot of bragging rights to the race director.

So we wake to more drama.

Looks like GU is back on the move. Must have had a bad night.

A real SH*T night!. I think what we are seeing is the sheer guts and honour of a man that is as hard nails. Soldering on after all has gone sour. MACHINES!!!

it looks like he slept at the padstal ... or at least rested - maybe waited for the stomach issues to stop so he could carry on.

I speculate - but I wonder of he got the nutrition aspect wrong andmaybe ate something he should not have with John chasing him down ?

Statistically GU was the fastest of the two but in the end it comes down to what the body can endure, what a fantastic indictment of the human spirit. Hope GU finishes and JN is still there to cheer him over the line.

Oh man... I knew I shouldn't have gone to sleep..

JN is almost done., got to feel for GU. Rode so incredibly well for so long and then bam..the stomach decided enough is enough

Fatigue is always a killer. Hear of lots of similar cases in RAAM. Riders just over extend themselves. Couple to lack sleep and not eating enough proper food and stomach is the first to say enough. Hope he can still podium

Wow. Crazy stuff happened while I was asleep. Watched the replay before I came here. GU must have been really in bad shape to just stop like that. Thats got to be a bitter pill to swallow when it looks like you've got it in the bag. He really seemed to be unstoppable. But I'm really excited for John he has been so consistent. To maintain that intensity over such a distance with the absolute minimum of sleep is really incredible.
