I have a question.. as a competitor were you allowed to log on and see where your fellow riders were? I read the rules and there was no mention of this. I suppose there was little to no internet connectivity on the route so you would not be able to?

I don't think it really matters, until the last 150km. You do your own strategy, there are just too many guys to cover for the first 700km.

The only info that is useful is when someone stops when they shouldn't (mechanical on the course), or moves on when they should stop (breeze through race village in 20minutes)

There's no drafting, so you can't wait and form up a group with faster riders coming from behind.

If it's neck and neck going into bainskloof, then you'll probably know about it anyway!

(speculation) hanlie got info that hannele was miles behind from her detour, then chilled a lot in riding the Sutherland leg. Hannele caught up! Or hanlie was just stuffed

I think we were all very lucky to be part of this one as spectators. A small field..learning about the competitors...almost being with them in spirit...from the race at the front to the last 3 coming in as a unit.....next year its going to be 2 or 3 times the field and we not going to get the same comradeship as we did with this...I really feel proud to have been a part of this first one

well done sire!

I would love to know why VR and LE went forward and then came back to GU...they obviously tried to carry on and realised they were too tired to continue so came back

That was a water point

hot dog, where did you find it at 66?

the Apidura website has them at 85!

The 85 includes UK VAT. It is excluded when you buy from SA.
