I have just started cycling , so only race for me is SCT.

How will I be seeded for 99er if I don't have 3 races below the belt?

The weighting index will then be 100 for your SCT - hope it was a good ride time!

Let me think...

2012 D'ville High School

2013 99er

2014 P'delphia Tour

Yep, I've been dropped on that climb in a race every year since 2012, wonder which race in 2015 will have that honour....

   In my case, each and every race that uses that section.

I have opted not to renew my PPA membership this year, will this mean I will be "penalised" with a late start for the 99'er?

I haven't done this race for a while.

No, this gets its own seeding and does not use the PPA seeding numbers.

Thanks, would they use previous results of other races? Or the last 99'er I've done? - Surely not that.

They would use all Racetec timed events up until a week before ish. Having a good PPA seeding now normally means you have a good 99er seeding.  Hence the post.

Final noob question for the day, promise :whistling:  :whistling:

Do they take into account your starting group and your finish time ,or do they only look at your finish time when determining your seeding?

Its much easier doing a sub 3 starting group 2 then what it would be to do it, starting group 4.

Your finishing time relative to the winning time is the basis for determining seeding

Other variables are also incl like difficulty of the course and the influence of the weather gods etc

They look at your finish time relative to the adjusted winners time, then apply the same beta to everyone (Depending on how tough the race was compared to the Argus)

So they don't look at your starting group, would be close to impossible to do this for every individual that starts in different groups. The theory is, and I have done this myself. Start in X, then over the years move up to J, H, D, A. Took me 3-4 years.

When you improve seedings too quick in relation to fitness, you end up getting dropped in 20km in the races and feels lonely doing the race on your ace after that.

Here is how they calc your seeding. http://www.pedalpower.org.za/index.php/results-seeding/seeding/how-we-calculate-your-seeding/

Hope this helps.

Thanx for the explanation

Makes sense what they are doing.

So basically the fastest way to move up, is hire a few strong guys to fall back into your group and help you(pull you) achieve a very fast time.

99er have their own seeded groups based on the PPA index. So only thing that matters is your results in the the past year, especially the last 6 months.
