What is it with people riding stuff straight on the spruit.

Let's put this in context: The ocean is a pretty big place, but if you drop into another guy's wave, you end up with a broken nose. A handful of people made up the rules, but everybody is happy to abide by it. And no one pays for the wave, do they?

Trail etiquette does not only apply to trail centers.

The spruit isnt.

There arnt families cruising the backline.

There are no vagrants in the ocean, nor commuters!

You keep coming back to "commuters, families, vagrants etc."

The problem is riders who should know better. Go read my previous posts again.

Those "humps" you are riding uphill are jumps you should be riding from the other side....if you chose to ignore that fact there is nothing I can do for you. Go ride the DH course at Thaba backwards, I'm sure they'll love you there.

The only reason I started this conversation, is because someone is going to get hurt.

For us on the otherside of the country, with little to no real ownership in the spruit, could we see pics of these areas .... you know, so that we can feel included in the discussion. Not trolling, just interested to get a visual of what is happening on those trails.

pic please?

Hairy

I am still busy saving for my DH Rig.

As soon as I have it I will go carve it up in the Spruit and take some gnarly pics

I don't believe you ... I recon you will just pose next to the rig in the parking lot :P

Who the hell cares anyway? The Spruit isn't real mountain biking anyway.  A real trail isn't a place where a 75 year old lady, with two artificial hips, can walk Fluffy, her French Poodle.

So I take it you hit ALL the jump lines no problem then

Please let the rest of know where all the "real mountain biking" in Fourways is.

I shared a chairlift in the Alps with a 70+ year old couple and their dog (walkers). So that probably disqualifies the Portes du Soleil as well.

Thing is, I have never seen any "commuters" going up the wrong way. Only "insurance company sponsored" riders on 80k specialized epics.

You really have to go out of your way to go up the wrong way at Hurlingham, as there is a four lane highway right next to the jump line.

And finally: Whether it is public land is a moot point: Mountain biking started on public land, and some of the greatest trails on the planet are still on public land.

Actually, no. Mountain biking started on illegal trails.

Even winning a world cup event must be a bit hollow now a days .... because in the back of your mind you must still be wondering where do I rank compared to those skill monsters on thehubsa.

Occasionally on my long runs I get caught needing a poop a long way from home. If I have to do an emergency boskak I always do it on the corner cutting lines. Dear straight liners.. that's not dog poop that splattered your chin.  ;)

Wow, speaking of Draconian interventions.

Good thing you did not have your finger on the button during the cold war
